View Full Version : If you could make one signing before the deadline, who would it be?

Who would you choose and why?

Try and choose a realistic target as well, none of this Kaka, Messi nonsense (we'll leave that to Football Rumours and Brydekirk )

a shock move for Garry O'connor, now that would be a great signing. He is a hibs man, cant see it really but it is slightly realistic  . Or maybe a shock Lee Wallace signing, just to annoy the yams. :notworthy:

I have heard this is very possible in the summer.

David Gray or Michael Hart for the RB position.

Wotherspoon is developing, and will continue to do so. I'd rather we signed a creative midfield player, as creating chances appears to be our most consistent problem.

Arfield isn't creative enough in my eyes. Someone like Robert Snodgrass at Leeds (not suggesting him, just the style of player) who plays traditionally on the right side, but floats all over midfield, picking the ball up, running at players and able to string passes through to the front men.

Whether someone is available in such a position or if Yogi feels (realises?) the need to bring such a player in, is a different question.

Heard we're looking at a irish winger who plays for Blackburn. Desperate for a right back wotherspoon is running on empty. We're draining him out.

Or Alan Gow - just cos the fuds across the city are convinced he is gonna sign for them

:agree: Keith Treacy. Decent player who would be a very good signing.

I'm not desperate for any new players. Keeping the ones we have are more important to me.

I'd like a new right back to allow wotherspoon to push forward to midfield but if we have to wait til next season I won't be too bothered. Wotherspoon is doing well and he is developing all the time and we have zemmama. If we did sign a new player, he'd have to be pretty decent to get into the team we have just now!:agree:

I'd be happy if we signed him, as after the last 30 mins of the Hamilton game showed, we don't have alot of midfield quality AFTER Miller & McBride come off!

Michael Hart.

Played again for PNE in their win on Saturday. Would be suprised if this happened now.

David Gray or Michael Hart for the RB position.

I think DG is probably our best bet of a new RB coming in tomorrow. Unless MU are looking for silly money.

Does he play right or left side? As I fear a lefty would hamper Galbraiths development.

Yogi knows him and likes him. Think this is possible, unless the Yams are willing to spend £££'s again like with Barr.

I think who comes in depends on who leaves...

Jose Antonio Reyes on loan maybe.

Wouldn't mind seeing Rocastle or Antonio Murray come back. Special mention for Stephen Dobbie who would also be a great signing.

Craig Conway from Dundee Utd. He is a player that gets his head down and will take someone on, something i think we lack a bit.

We need a right back so we can release Wotherspoon to do what he does best and that's as an attacking right midfielder.

Second choice - a pacey striker

Hmmm, a pacey striker, G?

How, and why? Who would we replace?

Stokesy's got a decent bit of pace on him. If we were going to bolster the squad up front, I'd want a target man for the likes of Riordan and Stokes to feed off.

Hart or Gray - RB
Swanson - RM

As per TQM, would also love a forward with real pace, possibly loan signing from EPL team.

Would be delighted with this, think we'd be looking to push Celtc for 2nd if we got these guys in.

Benji is far better than Kyle. We dont need a Nish mark 2.

To be fair to Benji, 5-10 minutes at the end of the occational game is not nearly enough.

I felt we were more of a threat against St Mirren when he came on in the last 10 minutes.

your right, you need more than that to get up to speed, but if you are toiling to get into the team you try even harder in that 10 minutes. and at times he seems un-interested.
Would love him to get back to that previous form tho.

A previous form Benji combined with what we already have.....

What an attacking force that would make us. :agree:

Scott Arfield.

Realistic target, would fit into our style of play, very comfortable on the ball - a proper footballer IMHO but one who is certainly no lightweight, young Scottish guy too who could sign a lengthy contract. Plays in a position in which we need more options.

C'mon Rod - get it sorted!
