Lost me I'm afraid. Far as I know he's injured and even when he gets fit he needs to wait his turn as Smithy is doing a grand job

First time, in a long time that we've had two good 'keepers, where we wouldn't actually mind which one was between the sticks in any game, imho.

I've not heard this either, maybe some mileage in the quest to sign Mark Brown story then, I couldn't quite understand that one before.

According to a few people over on the Bounce, they say that he has hung up his boots because his back seems to have got a lot worse.

If the the so called bulging disc prognosis has any truth in it, we are talking a long term injury. It wont sort itself and is more likely to made be made worst with constant pounding.

An op may put it right, but the fact is there are no guarantees with this sort of injury. Treatment so far has been about alleviating the symptoms rather than sorting the problem.

Just as well Smith is doing the business.

I would keep him even with a long term injury, he seems to have done wonder for the atmosphere in the dressing room, seems a big character and all the players seem to talk very highly of him and his ability to build a happy atmosphere at the club

There is more to being a player than what you just do on the pitch. :agree:

He must be mega pee'd off though, just established himself as a number 1 and he gets an injury that might end up forcing him to quit, id be gutted if it was me, hopefully its not as bad as some are making out

Sure I read on the main site a few days ago that Yogi said he was back in training. I highly doubt that was just to crack some jokes and run around in the buff!

Heard that he is waiting to have more surgery on his back, but things are not looking good for him, at Hamilton game last week he said that if the next op did not work for his back on a disc then he may have to consider retiring from football all together. Sad news.

Sad news indeed.

Fingers crossed for the guy.

Stack is injured. Smith is def the better keeper anyway. In the few games Smith has played he's been very very good.

Whats the chance of Brown coming in on a short term deal as back up for Smith, then being released in the summer or signing an extension depending on Stacks fitness?

At the moment we have Smith, who has been excellent, Flynn, who Yogi doesn't seem to think ready for the first team and Maka. If Smith gets injured that leaves us very light on the keeper front.

i was diagnosed with 2 bulging discs about 5 years ago (MRI) and from time to time it does flare up and get pretty bad,but as long as you do the exercises its fine for the most part.i do a physical job and still play 5s twice a week so i dont think its a career ending injury for a keeper.would definitely not want an OP though as it looks horrendous:bitchy:

With Brown signing I think we can take it that Stack has a long term injury.

The problem with any back injury is that general wear and tear affects each person differently. Add to that, an injury such as the one you have, and you are in uncharted territory.

A bulging disc may be put right with an operation. But that will depend in part on how much wear and tear there is. Will also depend on what you are going to do following the op. Rehabilitation exercises do help - up to a point.

If you plan to dive around on hard ground for the next three to four years after the op, its pretty safe to say you will not be doing your back any favours.

Glad to hear the exercises have helped in your own case.

Maybe i'm missing a joke here but why would a guy with Catholic imagery tattooed on his body be socialising with Loyalists?

Assuming we're talking about Stack of course.

There's a lot of nonsense spouted about 'bulging discs'. This is a common finding on scans and is of no medical significance. Very different from a slipped/herniated disc.

There's little info about Stack's injury but the real pointer to a significant back problem is the fact he had some form of epidural as a treatment/to help in diagnosis. The fact Yogi's signed another good keeper suggest his injury is long term. A great shame-he did well for us and was the first Hibs keeper I had faith in for some time. I suspect he will be lucky to play again at agood level.

I don't doubt your story. I'm more intrigued as to why he's getting caught up in this sort of thing. He hardly seems a natural choice of friend for Chelsea supporting, loyalist, hertz casuals considering he's an Irish, ex Arsenal and current Hibs goalkeeper.

He also likes a good night in the Gunner.

I see from the EEN that Stack is due to make his comeback in a friendly game that's been arranged for tomorrow.

Maybe he's made a remarkable recovery after the news broke that we've signed another 'keeper.
