So a total of 63 points come the end of the season, how many points did Hearts have last year and Utd the year before?

59 points after 38 games. I don't know what they were after 33 games though. Who's to say we won't improve on 21 points in the next 11 games before the split?

The Yams finished with 59 points after the split last season - they had 54 points before the last 5 fixtures.

Motherwell had 60 points the year before - they had 53 points before the league split.

In Hearts "Unbeatable season 05/06, they had 47 points after 22 games and 65 points at the split.

They finished the season 1 point ahead of Rangers with 74 points. We're going great at the moment and could have 66 points at the split if we keep it up.
Although Rangers had a horrific start to that season - they were 4th at this stage with 37 points - it just goes to show what an achievement that actually was. Romanov's sabotage cost Hearts an even better season yet they're in denial and they love him still.

Celtic won the league with 91 points, by the way.

I genuinely believe that the new training facility is having a positive effect. As long as I can remember we collapsed about Christmas/New Year, even the Tornadoes. IMHO this comes down to two things. First being that our teams have always had to hunt round the country for somewhere to train in the past and, in the worst of weather, had no indoor facilities. So East Mains fills that void.

Second issue is a bit harder to get over and that is the state of the pitches we have to play on. Tattie fields are great levelers and our own pitch is hardly a bowling green. This has always played in to the hands of the hoofball teams cutting out the midfield. I don't think pitches were so bad in the past and I understand this is down to the new stadia being so enclosed. Surely there must be some way of building in to the contsruction of stadia a means of directing natural sunlight and air-flow over the pitch during the week so that it gets the best possible chance to recover and grow.

There's a theory that Hearts fans use about needing 60 points to get third. The "60 Point Formula" is based on a target of gaining the following points from the season.

Home and away versus the Old Firm - 0 points
Home versus non-Old Firm - 45 points
Away versus non-Old Firm - 15 points

From 22 games we have the following:

Old Firm - 4 (from possible 12)
Home - 26 (from possible 30)
Away - 12 (from possible 24)

So, to reach the magical 60 points, which should mean 3rd place, we need a further 18 points from 16 games.

Looking at it another way, we have averaged 1.9 points per game so far. To get the 18 further points required our form can slip to 1.1 points per game. That's quite a slump!

What ever way you look at it, we are well ahead of schedule and recent years. Well done Yogi!! :top marks

Yes in '73. The way we were going we looked like league winners and were leading at New Year. Then John Brownlie broke his ankle and Alex Edwards and Pat Stanton were long term suspended. Our slump allowed Celtic in front and the rest is history.

Still think about it nearly 40 years later.

Despite what some posters and many Yams have been saying, whisper it "it has not happened yet"

First eleven fixtures P11, W6, D3, L2 Points 21
Second eleven fixtures P10, W5, D3, L2 Points 18 - with St.Johnstone still to play

:top marks to Yogi, all the lads and management team for the last week. An outstanding effort. I particularly appreciate the desire, drive and effort needed to dig out the last couple of wins. If nothing else it shows all the players that games are there to be won even if things are not going that well for 89 mins

How oftenn do teams go 1 down against the OF in Glasgow and turn the game round ... erm very rare indeed :top marks

:grr: is this a blip or a collapse? Some difficult but winnable games coming up, yet I don't feel confident that the team can win them.

Updated record:

First eleven fixtures P11, W6, D3, L2 Points 21
Second eleven fixtures P11, W5, D3, L3 Points 18
Third eleven fixtures P4, W1, D1, L2 Points 4
