Jack has stayed in first place as the most popular boys name for new babies. Lewis keeps second place whilst James climbs two places to third. For the fifth year, Sophie is the most popular girls name for new babies.

Some crackers in that list though. Some poor boy's called 'papa'
Theres also 'Praise', 'Peace' and 'Soul' (boys) not to be confused with 'Praise' and 'Peace' (girls).

Lots of the (for Scotland) unusual ones are clearly cultural or ethnic and quite normal within the family's culture.

But I don't think I'd want to have to face life under the moniker 'Esau', or 'Rehoboth', or 'Wonderful', or 'Valentino', or 'Theophilus', or 'Adonis', or 'Ebenezer', whatever my background....

I wonder how many of the 33 wee Harleys have the surname Davidson?

'Austen' Healey? 'Aston' Martin?

'Caledon' ??????????? I mean, WHIT?

'Deshawn' reminds me of the story of the twins who were named by their auntie - the girl was called DeNiece and the boy was called DeNephew?

And will all the little Omars grow up to live alternative lifestyles and make their money holding up drug dealers?

Some parents..... :bitchy:
