Can't put my hand on it just now but I once printed a copy off some safety document / report that Hibs were obliged to provide.

Got it online and it had emergency evacuation procedures, incident controller details etc. It had exact capacities of all four stands.

IIRC along the lines of west 6500, east 3200, north and south 3900.

That would give 17,500.

According to Simon Inglis: Football Grounds of Britain (prior to West Stand rebuild):

South Stand: 3,962
North Stand: 3,864
West Stand: 6,834
East Stand: 3,000 - 3,500 (approx)*

* This was 4,223 until the pitch was moved eastwards and the first two or three rows of seats taken out.

Roughly -

FF - 3,750
South - 3,750
West - 6,500
East - 3,500

= 17,500

So when the East is 0, the total stadium capacity will be 14,000, and when the East is 7,000, it'll be 21,000.

For future development we have two corners we could fill in at around 1,500 each, and the two scabby corners which would probably have full seating on the bottom tier and largely big screens in the top ones, at around 750 seats each. That would mean 4,500 seats and a completed capacity of 25,500.

I'm not sure that those figures are accurate as they would have given us a capacity of 18883 before the two rows of seats were removed.

Even using the 3000 figure for the East, it would give us a current capacity of 17660.

I'll email Hibs...

You have missed the point.

The rows of seats on the East had to be taken out before the new West Stand could be built. The reason for the pitch being moved was to create the space to build the West Stand.

The old Main Stand held only 4,482.

This season for some reason, it has been under, under and under making dissapointing average of under.

A small number of seats were lost in the FF stand upper during the 1996 close season - they rejigged the hospitality black padded seating area as the fans behing it kept lobbing pies and bovril down on the corporate Old Firm fans when they celebrated. IIRC they took the green plastic seats above that area and they definitely took out the first two plastic seats either side of the corporate area to give that section its own stairway (I went from third seat in to having an isle seat:thumbsup:) IIRC there are about 13 rows so they would have lost about 13x4=52 seats that way

The accurate figues are:

West Stand 6,407
East Stand 3,221
Famous Five Stand 3,829
South Stand 3,943

Stadium Totals 17,400

So, by my calculation, if a new 6400 seat stand is built, Easter Road will have a capacity of 20579.

Not too shabby for a wee team.

Thing is, will we fill it week in week out?

No, of course not.

We might get close to filling it 6 times a season against the OF and the Yams.

That's a third of our home games. That's a lot of extra income.

We might get close to filling it if and when we play in Europe too.

We'll also be able to rent it out for cup semis and Scotland games etc.

Good eh?

Indeed, there is also the option of looking at reducing ST kids prices for example as there will be ample room to do so.

Can't wait for it to be completed, will be superb.

We will need to improve the quality of the playing surface first. It's not the worst pitch in the league, not by a long way, but it could certainly be doing with a bit of work getting done on it.
If we do happen to get some extra games IF the new stand gets built, then it will need even more attention.

So do you think the extra revenue for the club is sufficient compensation for us fans who will have to put up with more sectarian bile, more odours of unwiped backsides, more unwashed oxters and more bad breath? :grr:

Are we going to split the East Stand so we can sell seats to the away fans? Or will they still get the same number of seats they get at the moment?

I think this might be the case. They would probably enter via the South stand so the segregation post match would be of a similar arrangement to now.
If it means we get more players of a better standard on the pitch then I am all for it.

Any idea why capacity is quoted as 20250 just now? The club keep mentioning the east is 6400 seats. To be out by over 300 seats seems a bit strange.

Mind the west stand capacity will have been reduced as they took out the first row of seats. That will account for some of it.

:agree: Just remember that. That'll have got rid of a couple of hundred seats. Cheers.

It's been relayed. And is looking fantastic. Also, it's as wide as hampden- full international size.

Wouldn't have thought that ST holders would be at all happy about getting moved for some unwashed to sit in their seat. So I think they'll stay in the south.

For semi finals I'm hoping that they put a banner down the middle of the east to segregate so that even then there won't be some non hibs fan in my seat!

Away fans definately wont get any of the East.

It can be split down the middle for internationals or cup games when other teams are playing. This was mentioned a few times by Scot Lindsay ages ago.
