In Riordan, Zouma, Stokes and Benji we are fortunate to have four players who are genuinely two-footed and who provide us with a huge variety of options in midfield and up front - compare with eg Kenny Miller, whose left peg is as much use as my boaby when it comes to playing football.

So why oh why do we persist in playing one single formation and continuing with it even when it's self-evident that it's not working? How many times recently have we watched Deeks achieving nothing out wide on the left for eighty minutes or so, and then getting hooked? Why not shift him into the middle alongside Stokesy? Why not try Zouma over to the left for a bit, or anywhere else in midfield for that matter, since he can play just about any midfield role? Why not bring Spoony forward into right midfield and give us a bit of extra pace there?

We have any number of permutations available without even having to bring on substitutes. Why don't we ever try any of them out? If it doesn't work, Yogi, you can just change it back again. Or you can bring on a sub or two and try to change it round that way.

Living in hope, but not much expectation...
