Can anyone confirm this? I've got a memory of Dirk Lehman playing in defence for Hibs in a couple of games a long time ago. A game against Hearts when the West Stand was being built and Mixu missed a penalty.

Did this really happen or have I just become confused over time!?

Seem to remember Mixu missing the pen, but not sure about the Porn Star in defence?

RE: the missed pen; I recall Mixu tried one of those little dinks straight down the middle (which is supposed to float over the keeper) but managed to put it over the bar! Was it in the last minute or am I going mad? :grr:

He played CH a few times at the end of his time with us. I recall he did so in GOC's debut or his first goal at Dundee when we won 2 nil: Libbra and GOC scored. Have to say he strolled through the game :agree:

I am pretty sure he did play in defence on the odd occasion. Probably something to do with his ability in the air. I have yet to see a player at ER who could out jump Dirk!

You're not going mad - it was in fact pretty much the last kick of the ball. Mixu later (unbelievably) admitted to attempting the dink down the middle to take the p*ss out of Anti Niemi as he was his mate from his time with the Finland national squad.

No Mixu - when taking a penalty in the last minute to beat the yams - you smash that ******er into the roof of the net.
If it wasn't for a happy memory from a certain derby Mixu would have been vilified for it!

He played centre back alongside Gary Smith in the following games:

29 4 2001 Scottish League A Dundee W 2 0
6 5 2001 Scottish League H Celtic L 2 5
13 5 2001 Scottish League H Heart of Midlothian D 0 0

whilst Paul Fenwick was out injured suspended or on international duty (I can't remember which)

Aye, they made out he was Cannavaro after his first game there. Wasn't so good when we got gubbed 5-2 by the Circles at Easter Road!

I remmber Eamon Bannon playing as a Centre Half against Motherwell under Alex Miller at Easter Road? I'm sure I did!!! Although i was huckled out of that game by the boys in blue for allegedly throwing a toilet roll on to the pitch:confused:

True dat.....how many times did he get his nugget on the ball though?

Still...he done Petric like a kipper in the Millenium Derby.

I think I recall him scoring a double against the yams near Xmas time. In the paper next day the headline was " Dirkey and all the trimmings "

I liked that :)

I thought he scored the first. Surely the second was Sauzee's howitzer from the 18-yard line?

I can also vaguely remember McLiesh(?) bringing Mixu on as a sub at left back at some point - maybe against Killie at ER.

Only remember watching Lehman as a striker. Can't remember when he was a defender for us.

Are you joking? IIRC he was well known for jumping about a day before the ball got to him and more often than not being back on his feet by the time the ball arrived!!!! :greengrin

I think it was the cup tie at Rugby Park, the one where Mcmanus scored. Apparently Mixu started his career as a left midfielder so he felt Ok about it. I cant say that I felt confident seeing him there.
