Is anyone else going?

My brother plays for the league leading Under 19's and will be hoping to get in the squad for a place on the bench tomorrow in his game tonight (playing Spartans).

If he doesnt get in he'll be helping out so ill be heading down for a watch to have a gander at our opposition in the next round.

Will also be able to see Andy McNeil feature for Montrose!
What a fall from grace he has had! CIS Cup winning medal, to 6 points and bottom of the scottish Football League!

Good Luck to Edin. City but at £10 entrance, I'll not be anywhere near the turnstiles. I hope Montrose get through, as we tend not to perform against non-league sides...:greengrin

certainly a lot of cash on offer for both sides. For selfish reasons im hoping City get through. Although i would hate if my bro came on and scored against us.

Either way we should be beating both these teams!

If it had been circa £5 I wouldve went, but given the quality of the teams (bottom of Div 3, bottom quarter of EoS league), a tenner seems a touch steep, bearing in mind for only a fiver more one could have seen the 3rd highest team in Scotland in the same round of the cup.

I believe its the SFA that sets the prices/pricing guidlines tho.

they are 2/1 at home to the worst team in Scotland's professional(?) leagues, so think my tenners safe.

This is one of these games that it always seems a good idea to go along to. It's a cup tie, in a different environment, a non-league local side, and you would be supporting the game at a grass roots level both in Edinburgh and nationally.

But the reality is that it'll probably be a cold and boring evening.

I might go however, as I always end up being convinced by the romance of it all, and it's inevitably a mistake.

Wouldn't they make more money by getting more folk through the gate if they keep their prices static? £10 to watch a bunch of boys from AEGON, the Post Office and Standard Life play against some folk from Scottish Widows, the Royal Bank and Scottish Gas just doesn't seem a fair price.

No offence to any of the organisations mentioned - just trying to get a point across. :greengrin

He's City's top scorer so if they are to progress then they'll need him to be decent!

I fancy City tonight but it'll be close. I know a lot of the players but won't make it down because of my own training......

And i think the prices are set as a minimum by the SFA. City would prefer to charge less i would have thought, especially on a monday night.

They are trying to get round this by doing the adult + child offer

thought the same thing when the half time report came through on Sportsound.

Remember him to be tall, leggy winger who scored a few rakers. I'm sure we were credited with an interest in him for a wee spell - di dhe not go to Motherwell??

Is McNeil still training daily with Raith? If so, Montrose must be paying him a fair whack, unless he's still full time with them and just training with Raith for ease of convenience? I wouldn't imagine he would have been on enough at Hibs to allow him to live off the proceeds of his time with us until he goes back full time?

i was at the game tonight, and i have to say edinburgh were the better of the two teams. Montrose couldnt pass the ball, and flung it forward as soon as they could. edinburgh looked to play the ball.

even though city missed out on the next round, i hope they take heart from a good performance and the 1000 crowd give the club a wee boost.

I'd agree with that. I mentioned while watching that City looked more dangerous when they were passing it rather than playing the long ball like Montrose were. City got in behind the defence with some quick passing moves, just too often lacked composure when the chances came.

Montrose played it long all the time, didn't seem to have much else to offer. Credit is due for the 3rd goal though, the boy (Nicol I think) took on the entire City team, went in between the two centre backs and scored.

:agree: He made a few mistakes (4 or 5?) but he was only young and was unlucky to be following in the footsteps of Malkowski where every goal was fully analysed (by the fans and media) to see if the keeper could be blamed for it. He's unlucky to be playing at that level IMO.

Jamie McDonald is the same age as McNeil and is still at Hearts - purely down to him not being thrown in too early for them. they sent him on loan to QoS he made a couple of mistakes against us in the Cup and went back to Hearts and they've hidden him since.

McNeil would be a very good 1st Div keeper if he got the chance to play in that league.

How many more people are going to come up with this myth? My granny would have saved that, it was a routine save. FFS if he had let that in, he'd have been out the door a lot quicker than he was. Well done andy, he's a cup winning Hibby, but lets not make lies up about cup winning saves.
