Met him a few times and he had a swig of my red wine and a bit of my baguette outside the stadium in Bordeaux at France 98. Top bloke (for a lesser green). All the best to him!

Hope you have a speedy recovery and one day you tell us exactly how much you won at the bookies on Hibs winning the cup in 1991.

There's not many cup winning Hibs captains around. Also met Murdo and he's a top bloke.

Speedy recovery!

Always liked Murdo McLeod and thought he was quite underrated. Seems a decent fair-minded guy too. I wish the former Hibs captain a speedy recovery.

A great Captain for Hibernian after the attempted take-over by Wallet. Lifting the League Cup was a sight I never thought I'd never see in the darker days.

God bless.

Good luck to the big man, Hibs cup winning captains are hardly ten a penny so they should all be remembered fondly.

Hope that one of our own pulls through.

brings it all flooding back, he epitomised what we had to be about at that horrible time, spent a great deal of his career elsewhere but I have no problem regarding him as a hibby and a proper captain as well, when you think about what we went through then and how we emerged from it, I pray Murdo does the same.

Being a bit nosey, I found this on the net, although I must stress that it is purely for educational interest and NOT-CASE-SPECIFIC to Murdo MacLeod (for those of the hard of thinking)...

Re: how long can you live with a leaky and infected aorta valve?
While that last answer is certainly correct, it may not be the easiest thing in the world to understand if you're not a medical professional, so let me summarize what the problems you're facing are. What it sounds like you're describing is an aortic valve vegetation with destruction of the valve leaflets. The heart valves are thin, flexible flaps of tissue that allow flow of blood in only one direction. When a leaflet gets infected, it can lead to local destruction of the valve itself leading to backflow of blood past the valve. Another big risk factor if you have an infectious vegetation on the aortic valve is for part of that infected vegetation to break off and go elsewhere in your bloodstream. That can lead to strokes (blockage of blood flow to a portion of the brain), loss of blood flow to the intestine or other end organ, or loss of blood flow to the extremities. All of these are medical or surgical emergencies. The backflow of blood can result in congestive heart failure due to fluid overload on the left ventricle with irreversible damage to the muscle. If the regurgitation is significant (in most cases of infectious endocarditis, it is) you will need a valve replacement surgery before congestive heart failure sets in. If you are already in congestive heart failure with irreversible heart damage, you will need a heart transplant. This is a decision that will need to be made by a cardiothoracic surgeon. Most inoperable patients will not live more than 6 months to a year. Symptoms can be controlled with diuretics and vasodilators to reduce cardiac work.

Sorry for the thread hijack. :agree:

I remember Hibs playing a friendly in Jersey because I lived in Guernsey at the time and was going to go but didn't make it. What year was it?

Say hello to my mother-in-law if she's still perched on top of the Longfrie Inn's roof. :greengrin

Like many others on this thread my memories of Murdo as a Hibs player are all good and as with others I've met the man a number of times and always found him to be a top bloke.

Get well soon Murdo :agree:
