I'm maybe miles off with this but wasn't tevez in an offside position when he scored? as i understood it if they are past the goalkeeper this is classed as being offside?

There's been no mention of it from the commentators.

No, it's offside if you are infront of two opposition players. This is usually the goalkeeper plus one defender.

In this situation he was infront of the keeper but there was a few defenders on the line (or at least closer to it than tevez) so the goal stands

As long as there is more than one person between Tevez and the goal when the ball was played then he's onside. The fact Robinson was ahead of him is irrelevant. Terrible goalkeeping by the way.
