Must be sorted out quickly, in the last four games we`ve been all over the place, luckily two of these games were against rubbish opposition Irvine Meadow and Hearts, we were fortunate against Aberdeen and trounced by Rangers.
The signing of a new keeper was more than welcome but the centre back position is becoming a bit scary and if Bamba leaves it can only get worse, Wotherspoon who has been a revelation this season is covering right back temporarily and Ian Murray is basically following in the footsteps of his predecessors by having to take responsibility for everything, it doesn`t help when Rankin has to fall on his arse before making a tackle and absolutely nothing sticks to Nish, three players are carrying us at the moment in addition to Murray, Miller,Stokes and Riordan, it doesn`t have to be that way.

We need 2 proper full backs, a midfield of McBride, Miller, Cregg and (either Galbraith or Zouma) and Deeks/Stokes up top.

We need to lose Rankin, Nish and probably Benji. Buy Full Backs and maybe a proper midfielder and a Striker.

It would have been interesting if Irvine Meadow had scored first.

There were 2 or 3 times yesterday when Smith gave good shouts for his ball and the outfield player completely ignored him and panic kicked the ball anywhere allowing medda to mount another attack.

The return of McBride will hopefully go someway to addressing these issues as he holds the shape of the team together well and provides defensive cover from midfield far more effectively than Rankin ever could.

Our full backs certainly aren't poor players but they are both relatively inexperienced teenagers playing in a position that is not their favoured or natural positions.

We need to get a centre half in and put Murray out on the left where he has been superb this season, if thats a new signing or giving Hanlon a go in his favoured position it doesn't matter but having our experience and quality focused in the middle of the park means we are being murdered down the flanks a lot of the time and regardless of how good or experienced Hogg, Murray or Smith are they won't be able to stop every cross from the wings from reaching an opposition player and putting us at risk of losing a goal. it would be better if we could stop the crosses being delivered in the first place and for that we need strong, experienced full backs particularly against the better teams in the league

I thought yesterdays game would have been the ideal time to try Hanlon at CH. If things hadn't worked out it's just a simple case of switching Murry and Hanlon back.
If we are not going to play Hanlon at CH then a new CH and RB are a must.

As mentioned on anothre post, would Cregg be a shout for RB. Has all the attributes to be one. Tenacious in the tackle, can pass is quick and has the work ethic.

Personally think that Hanlon is an excellent prospect and i agree he could have played at centre back, he had a mixed game yesterday letting the ball run under his feet on a couple of occasions, which suggest either a lack of concentration or confidence, you could see him getting annoyed with himself on several occasions, he`s a young lad as is Wotherspoon and they both really need a bit of guidance on occasions, hopefully that will come with a signing or two.

Agree totally.
Hanlon has looked a wee bit ropey at fb, this is probably because he isn't one. He just lacks the athleticism you need to turn quickly etc at fb.
However, he seems to be growing (physically) and will be a very good centre half, i have no idea why Yogi persists in playing him out at fb.
Surely Murray back to fb where he has played very well and give Hanlon a wee go at centre half?
We need a new rb which will allow Wotherspoon to move up the park however, with the right coaching Wotherspoon could play there as he is a class act!!

How hard was it not to mention Chris Hogg in that post? You did pretty well there, congratulations :greengrin

We absolutely, utterly, totally need a centre half too.
