Whilst reading the St Mirren thread I noticed the league table for season 85-86.

That season must have been 2 points for a win. When did the 3 points for a win start

Cheers bud.

For some reason I thought it was even before 86.

wonder how many, if any, league titles/relegation battles would have gone a different way were it not for the rule change.

can't be bothered working it out myself - anyone know off the top of their head?

I know the first season it was introduced (1994/95 I think) we finished 3rd and Motherwell were 2nd and if it had remained 2pts for a win, then we would have been second. That's just a memory mind, I could be completely wrong!

You're completely right. We had 12 wins and 17 draws that year, and the Muthas had 14 wins and 12 draws.

I do know that post war only Hibs & Hearts lost the league on goal average, both would have won on goal difference. Ironically, when Yams lost league in 1986, see separate thread, they would have won on goal average!! Shame!!
