What a disaster it would be to lose this man for the sake of a few hundred quid. Played excellent today and is everything Hogg is not.

I would settle for no more signings if we kept him and the rest of the team.

Agreed. And Yogi boobed not making him captain again.

Agree.

His driving run at the end was excellent until Stewart chopped him.

100% committed to the cause and always fights right until the end.

If (as has been suggested on this board) Ian Murray's not happy at being made an offer from the club that is not as good as some of the higher earners at the club I can see his point.

Yet again today he showed how vital he is to the team. If some of his colleagues had shown the same passion and effort then we would have easily beaten a poor Hearts side.

With regards to the captaincy, remember it could be a psychological decision too.

Yogi may have felt that Murray would give 110% into every game, every tackle, every 50/50 captain or not. Has he not done that without being captain? I definitely think so.

Now all be it, Hogg hasn't had the greatest of seasons. But Yogi's decision was probably based on the fact that it may have given him a morale boost and made him feel valued at the club. Thus getting more out of him.

If we do lose Murray, that would be a disaster for Hibs. If it's because he was undervalued by the club monetarily, that would be short-sightedness of the highest order.

I've already admitted to being a Murray fan, & his commitment & drive today re-emphasised why we need to keep him.

Not quite sure how Stokes managed to get MOM ahead of Murray

My guess is they just put it down to the goal because in my opinion he didn't do much els.

What could he do? The ball was being punted towards him most of the time - and there wasn't anyone within 15 yards of him to pick up any scraps!

They should have swapped Riordan and Stokes around and make Riordan the target man as Deek was getting none of the ball at Left striker.

What are the figures involved?

I agree Riordan was well out of it over there but I'm not sure Riordan would've been any better up top on his own either. Maybe if both were up there together Riordan could've picked up some scraps.

A 'few hundred quid' is nearer a grand a week.

Don't know why he waited until the game was almost done before trying that lung bursting run. He should be playing just in front of the back four.

Murray was good but he also had at least 3 times he got caught in possession today which could have been more costly and had it been other players would have been slated for

Murray is vital to Hibernian. The team and the club.

Perhaps punt others to up wages.

If TQM is correct in what he states - then SURELY murray is worth an extra £50k a year.?

FFS petrie - your driving a around in a £90k porsche cheyanne!

get the finger oot yogi - this could be your first big error:agree:

To think with all the so-called flair players we are meant to have it's came down to Ian Murray once again.

Time to make this guy Captain

I know you'd like to have him there - but he is just so solid at the back, can we afford not to have him in defence?

He is the best player I have seen at ER for the opponent crunching fair tackle.

Murray was excellent today and has been great all season. Thought it was between him and Miller for MoM.

Sign him up :agree:

Getting Murray on new deal is an essential

Great players Like Ian thrive on challenges in the big games where big names go missing when there needed.

Ian Murray should also be made Captain as soon as possible

Murray is a 7-8 every game, no matter what position he plays. We need to do everything possible to keep him. I don't know how far apart we are in wages wanted, but lets hope we can bridge the gap, and Ian finishes his career at hibs.
