As much as I can't take to CM it would take ineptitude on a gargantuan scale for him to be any worse than Faldo was as captain. From his opening speech to the closing ceremony Faldo was a self endorsing, tactically bankrupt ringpiece. Completely outclassed by Azinger in every department.

I've got to disagree, with Monty's record in the Ryder cup, and his passion for it, I think he is the perfect choice.
He is well respected by the players who will be right up for it.
