Is it just me or are those on the shortlist painfully bereft of that core component - a 'personality'? For the first time ever I really could't care less who wins (Murray would be my choice if pushed) although I was glad to see Major Phil Packer acknowledged.

Seems to me that with the faux-granduer of the presentation that its an exercise in unjustifiable self-congratulation from our esteemed national broadcasters. The monster has grown out of control and has lost that sense of intimacy and inclusion, I for one, used to associate with this review show.
I wonder just how much of our money has been spent on this particularly self-indulgent spectacle!

As far as I am aware, Ryan Giggs is a World Champion. Was he not part of the United team who won the WORLD CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP?

Lets not forget his many years of being a world class football player. And his huge medal collection.

Giggs is a great professional, a great athlete and a great man.

sea the stars won just as many races as Jenson Button, didn't see the best equine of all time getting mentioned though

Completely mystified as to how David Haye wasn't placed considering Lewis and Calzaghe have won it recently with Hatton coming third.

In the same vein don't understand how Amir Khan and Carl Froch weren't even nominated considering they both won and defended major world titles this year.

To be fair though think Giggs deserved it.

:agree: Good point, the last 3 winners have been Joe Calzaghe(who was born in England but is very vocal that he considers himself Welsh), Chris Hoy and now Ryan Giggs. For anyone to suggest there is an English bias based on that is clearly deluded.
