Hibs lost 1-0 away to Sunderland today in a bounce match. 0-0 at half time, David Mailyer (who?) got the winner.

Cheers chaps. Good to see Yogi lining up games against some fresh opposition rather than just playing the usual suspects all the time.

It is also convenient to play against Sunderland, given that East Mains is just outside Newcastle.

When I met Stokes in Amsterdam after Sunderland's pre season game there he said that Anderson to Hibs was more likely to go through than his deal. Now we've got Stokes that makes Anderson a certainty surely? :greengrin

I'd take Anderson over Barr any day of the week. I'd only take Barr at RB.

Yep, Anderson shoud really be a first choice for Scotland. He'd be one of the top centre halfs in the country and another signing of the scale of Miller.

Sunderland should just send the rest of the reserves up here and get it done with.

:tee hee: It's a local derby for our boys.

I think Anderson would be a great signing.

Roy O'Donovan played for Sunderland, i'm sure he was linked with us when he was at Cork(?)

Was seemingly pretty poor when he was loaned to Dundee United last season.

Even though he is far better at Centre half than at right back.

I would take Barr over Anderson.

Russel Anderson is 31, recovering from serious injury and hasn't played regularly since he left Aberdeen, but he was one of the best centre halfs in the SPL when he was up here. I'm sure he would do well, but I don't know if he is worth breaking the bank for. I'm pretty sure Yogi said he was looking at players who were around 28 and under, to build a team for the future.

I wonder if we could negotiate a six month loan, and get Barr tied up on a pre contract. Good deal for him as it gets him some match fitness and puts him in the shop window, and would give us someone experienced to step in when Bamba is away without paying a fee to get Barr early.

I heard from my "young lads" he was at East Mains last week for half a day.
Could he be coming on a " rest of the season loan " which could cover for Bamba's being off to the the Africa Cup ?
