He's not got the all clear he's just been told the tumours are shrinking. But it's a long way from being 'all clear'

As John says himself he's not out of the woods yet, but it's good news. I'm delighted for the big man :agree:

Like someone else has stated he's far from being given the all clear. He's still got tumours ffs - how can he possibly be clear of it?

That aside, no one is given the all clear until they have reached the 5 year milestone after treatment has ceased. Until then you're simply in remission.

Good luck to big John - he lived for all of us when he did the footballing world a great service that day when he booted Craig Bellamy in the heid. Hopefully a lot more living for him to do - to the full with his family and friends - more power to your arm big fella

Wasn't Bellamy it was Eyal Berkovic (unfortunately).

Same here, been through it myself the last couple of months, it was reading about him that made me go to the docs and get checked out, luckily caught it early enough and had the all clear and had my last radiotherapy session today.
So i hope he is on the mend and is back working as a pundit soon.

Its fantastic news.

He was a player you hated your team to play against, but would have loved him to be playing for your side.

He's one of the very few decent pundit's out there.

Wish him a full recovery.

He's a total erse but I can even be happy for him at getting this news, it must be such a relief.

That's good to hear. Well done on getting yourself seen to, and on finishing your therapy. Good luck.

Let he without sin cast the first stone!

Isn't it funny when we (and I mean everybody, me included) make a general conclusion based on one or more data points. Someone pushes in front of you in a queue or whilst driving and we say "you f***ing erse" - but really is that one data point sufficient to draw a conclusion that that person is a "f***ing erse". What we don't know is that he may be a good family man, good at his job, gives money to charity etc etc.

Not getting at Jack in anyway as I have done similar in the past.

How's he an erse then, because he played for Celtic, writes for the sun?

Jeez I thought, despite the fact he makes me cringe every time I see or hear him, I was being sympathetic to the guy!
I still dont like him but I'm still glad he has shown that men can get through stuff like that.
IMO what he says about football isn't worth the space it takes up - on the telly or in the papers.

Yeah, but hope is a great thing for people to have on such a long journey.

:agree: and if we don't have hope, then what do we have........

As I have stated already, he has a long way to go and I wish him every success...
