View Full Version : The Cup Game: Are you Going?

Some are seeing this as a historical game, which could -whisper it- be the forebringer of a historical campaign.

Others see it as a routine devalued cup game against minnows.

Will you be there?

I'm a no, but only because I'm going to the Hertz game the week before and can't afford the trip two weeks in a row. Though I must admit I'm very tempted.

ehm...it's a home game on a Saturday...no graph paper needed.Seriously though, time for the marketing men to get around this game and do their best to big up our support. One tickets get 15% of anything from the club shop. Or how about, one ticket stub from each of our Scottish Cup games, guarantees a ticket for the Final?

Voted 'other' not going particularly because of who we are playing but because I decided years ago that I would goto every SC game as I could not bear to think of us actually doing the miraculous and wining without me being able to say I was at every round.......:greengrin

Will depend on the price. If it is to be £22 absolutely no chance, I could watch local junior football for about a tenner. If it was, say £10 adults and £5 kids then it is more likely that me and junior would be there. And I also think that this is the only way to get a crowd in excess of 7,000 at the game. I realise that people have cup top ups and I hope that you all get to use them another couple of times but a full price game will mean a very poor turnout IMO.

Has a date definately been set? I am reading that it may be on the Sunday. (Only rumors BTW).

I am giving serious consideration to going up and back in a day.

Will have to drive from Chippenham to Gatwick for an 07:00 flight.

Question here guys, will I be able to get from Easter Road to Edinburgh Airport for a 1920 flight?

A Joe baxi will get you there in about 30 mins, so yes you should make your flight comfortably.

I'm going as it will give us a chance to see some of the future stars of Hibs get a run out EG Bryne, Hanlon, Flynn and Currie. It could also be a good game for players to get confidance back EG Hogg, Cregg and Stoke (If he ain't goal shy that is). Hopefully we will get a high score 5 -0 or 6 - 0 nothing to rugbyish

Will be there. Should be interesting to see what sort of support Irvine Meadow bring.

Never mind giving youngsters a run out though. This is the trophy we havn't won in over 100 years, so full team if you please Mr Hughes.

:agree: My thoughts too. Fair enough if we're 5 or 6 up and bring them on as subs but not from the start please.

You are in for a rude awakening. You will need as many as you can as you might be in for a shock.Meadow are one of the best if not the best in junior football so be very carefull in your arrogance. Remember it will be eleven against eleven:wink:

Quite right mate. :agree:

I hate us being overly confident about beating anyone at any level.

If we win, then its a simple "meh".

But if we lose, we will be the laughing stock of Scottish Football.

19 years of following the Hibees is enough for me to know that we could be setting ourselfs up for a huge fall. :boo hoo:

Still, I hope its a cracking game that both sets of fans will enjoy.

To be honest, I've been watching Hibs long enough to know anything can happen, but I think we can safely say we'll win this one.

No disrespect to the Juniors... my mate plays Junior football and there's a decent standard in those leagues, but I think Hibs will see this one through. 2 things make me believe this:

1) Yogi won't treat this game with any arrogance and he will drill it in to the players that they will have to work to win.

2) It's at ER.

Last year's team, I could have seen us tripping up here, but not this team under Yogi.
