The white whistle was for uniting against domestic violence.
Think refs were supposed to have a white ribbon on as well, although I didn't notice it on the ref or the linesman (but wasn't really looking tbh).

Did sound rubbish though

I reckon that whistle’s on its last legs – mainly due to how often he blows it.
