Hope some people are interested. My dad asked me to forward this e mail from one of his students;

Dear Colleagues,

Edward Payne, a PhD student at Aberystwyth University, is conducting research on the football-related memories of British football fans, and is currently trying to reach British football fans, to let them know about his research, and to encourage them to fill in a short online questionnaire, available at: http://www.footballfanmemories.co.uk
If anyone is willing to either: forward the message below to any of your students or colleagues who might be interested in filling in this questionnaire, or (if you are interested!) fill in the questionnaire yourself, Edward would be incredibly

grateful.
With thanks and best wishes,
Kate Egan

What 3 statements did you pick?

I picked the ones about having a special feeling for my team, wanting people to know I follow my team and enjoying banter with fans or rivals.

I'm not sure we have to tell the OP when we've done it.

I finished it ages ago.

I talked about my favourite moment being AEK Athens, specifically the period between the end of the 90 minutes and the beginning of extra time.

The singing of Sunshine on Leith at that moment is still one of my favourite and most emotion moments supporting our team, I have rarely felt so proud to be a Hibbie surrounded by my family and mates in the West. It felt as though thats what supporting this club is all about, that moment of pure passion and pride. Had a huge lump in my throat. I think that song and its lyrics add to the tribalistic feeling it brings to us Hibbies, and certainly contributed to how i felt that night. Hampden 2007 was really special too in terms of the after match moments, but Athens sticks in the mind more as it was at ER.

Will you be posting up the finding?

I suspect it will be something like... Football fans love their team the most and their favourite football memory is of their team beating X team. :LOL:

That was quite cathartic.

I didn't realise my first football memory was watching Brazil on TV winning the World Cup in 1962.
