Apart from the obvious, what is wrong with Paisley and why do we find it so hard to win there?

It has been more than ten years since we last go a win over St Mirren in Paisley (9/1/99, 1-2) and in the last 50 meetings against them away we have only beaten them 11 times and most of those were only by the odd goal. Stein, McFarland, Auld, Stanton, Mowbray, Collins, Paatelaine and now Hughes have all failed to win there.

However when you look at our home form against them, it is a much brighter picture, out of the last 22 meetings at ER, going back to 1987, we have only lost 2 and drawn 3, winning the other 17. If we go back further to 1933 we have played them 89 times and only lost 14.

Is Paisley up there alongside Inverness as places we dread going to?

The stats don't look good but how many times have we played there in the last 10 years? they were in the 1st Division for a few of them weren't they?

There isn't one reason why we haven't won at Paisley for a while, but two, three or more reasons. This season it is due to them being a hard working physical side with some decent tactics thrown in. In Tony Mowbray's last game in charge which was away to St Mirren we had no fewer than seven under twenty one's in the squad for that day and we came away with a draw but created marginally the better chances IIRC. Players like Jamie McCluskey were given the opportunity to shine that day but really didn't take it. Other times we just simply haven't been good enough. I don't know whether the Sauzee, Latapy team got a result against them in the SPL, or even in the first division away if applicable.

Played them 5 times at Love St and twice at new stadium in last ten years. 7 in total.
