From this article it seems that Yogi wants the same thing as JC. The big difference is in his people management skills. It seems he's been slowly evaluating things, while making incremental changes so that the players can adjust. He's also been creating an esprit de corp to keep them all onside and get them positively behind the changes. As a result, we're so much fitter, and it seems, going to improve further in this direction.

If JC was able to adopt some of Yogi's bedside manner and team building skills, then he might have been able to meet his culture change objectives. He should watch and learn.

Yogi keeps impressing me as he gets stuck into this job.

He seems to have a very strong philosophy about how his team should play, like JC... but he also has a hugely pragmatic nature.

In the summer he publicly washed his hands of Benji... then he accepted him back into the team.

That is the mark of talented manager, IMO - clearly the boss, but doesn't let his ego get in the way of making the decisions that get the best results.

I don't doubt his ability to install a much more professional ethic into the younger players.

:agree: They just need to look at Wotherspoon and Byrne to realise that if they work hard enough, they will get a chance in the 1st team.

the only similarity to hughes and collins is that they both say the same things but the results are totally diffrent yogi has an eye and a half for a player (mcbride, miller, stokes, galbraith) collins talked about using his contacts (morais, kerr, gathuessi) not so gd at playing football. yogi can motivate player's to play his way and for the club, collins could not. yogi know when to push a player and when not to, collins seemed to be a tyrant most of the time.
