Interesting article. Fair play to Celtic for trying something different. Something Hibs should look at.

It's the right way forward.

Are there any decent schools in tranent that we could link up with?

On a side note, last season I was in a boozer up town and there were 3 u19s boys there with tracksuits on. One of them had another year at 19s and the other two were out of contract and weren't getting one.

One of them was getting stuck into the pints, one had a couple and the other didn't drink. Guess which two were out on their ear?!

Seems stupid for guys to get to that level and piss it up the wall.

Does that mean that they will only sign 14 year olds that will go to a Catholic school?

I'd go to a madrass in pakistan if i thought it would get me a game for Hibs.

Sorry but where did you see that in the article?

I think it's a tremendous idea for kids, look at how professional players from abroad are, being taught schoolwork and also how to behave as a footballer regards to diet and socialising is also a major factor.

Do you have to be Catholic to go to a Catholic school?

I don't think so - but as far as I know (read it in the paper) if you're a teacher and not catholic you can't be promoted if a catholic fancies the same promotion as you.

You don't have to be Catholic to go to Catholic school, some of my mates at school weren't. As for the teachers I find that very hard to believe.

It was a teacher complaining about discrimination a couple of years back that said it. It was in the Sunday Herald so not a reasonably respectable paper.

Could be he was pish at his job and making excuses for not getting promoted but then again you'd think the paper would look into that before printing the story.

Putting in a claim for discrimination maybes?

Then again being Catholic or having a good knowledge of the Catholic faith is maybe one of the "point scorers" in the interview. Who knows, but I don't see why it would make a difference as at secondary you get taught very little about religon.

Especially in science

And is this not the Club that got rid of their entire under19 team at the end of last season...?

However, to think that other clubs cant or wont try to emulate Hibs successful (for now) setup is a mistake. If other teams decide to get serious about their youth setup, give real chances and pay better than Hibs, a fair share of kids and their parents will vote with their feet.

We need to stay ahead of the game so it was interesting to read Yogis plans for fitness "24/7!".

Ross High is the very large (1000+ pupils) secondary. It just so happens that they major on sports offering 27 extra cirricular activities. and would be the obvious place to start..in fact I'm almost sure there will be contact with them already

I wonder why Hibs don't have a link with Queen Margaret Uni, especially with Sir Tom Farmer being the Chancellor? It is also near East Mains.

I'm sure there already is a link , but this is about children of school age.
