Never gonna happen! But if anyone could get us qualifying for things it's him!

Smith and Peat would have to break the bank, but agree, would be a fantastic coup. Unfortunately, I have no faith in the SFA to get it right and we'll end up with another elongated selection process resulting in a mediocre choice.

Even if by some miracle he was interested Smith would no doubt overlook him and appoint some nobody

Apointing Gus would certainly get rid of the apathy.

He is probably the third highest paid international manager in Europe after Capello and Trappatoni on £1.5 million.

Would be great if it happened, but he would want too much control for the liking of those in the comfort zone; he wouldn't allow the SFA and the OF to dictate terms to him. We all want to move on and catch up with the rest of Europe, but face it, the SFA will NOT appoint someone who will rock their gravy train (sorry, boat !).

I know we've not got the money to break the bank but an idea raised on radio Scotland sports program last night was to get somebody in at the best salary they can muster but offer a substantial bonus if they get us to the next championship.
If we get to the next championship the money made from endorsements and Scotland tops will more than cover said bonus.

Russian wife from what I've heard so he'll still be their boss or manager of one of the big Moscow teams I'd imagine.

I very much doubt he'll leave Fulham before the end of the season but Roy Hodgson would be perfect. Well organised teams using the resources made available to him and always punching above their weight.
I would push the boat out to get him.

Surely that's because he's (part?) bankrolled by Abramovic?

He'd have to take a more modest salary elsewhere I'd imagine.

If he can't get that Russia team to a WC what would he be able to achieve with Scotland exactly?

The SFA will be paying £300k maximum to the new manager, there's no chancec someone like Hiddink would come for that.
