Met the sproule family on a bus after the 0-1 riordan derby and a
Nicer bunch you wouldn't find. Ivan was with his dad and brothers I think but still shook my hand and had a gas about how much he loves Edinburgh and still comes up to watch us.

I'm not going into any great details here but Ivan is one of the most level-headed, down to earth football players I have ever had the pleasure to speak to.

I took Wee Toaods and her cousin to get some players autographs, etc but at the time results weren't going too well and players made a bolt for their cars or didn't exactly appear at the main entrance. Ivan hadn't even got on the park that day but came out and signed autographs, spoke to the kids and happily had his pic taken with them and others who has stood patiently.

Not an ounce of arrogance about the man whatsoever and you know something that builds that in a persons character? Being a good family man.

IIRC, tragedy struck his family before losing a brother at a young age, so it stands to reason he'll be sitting at home asking himself "Why Me? :wtf: have I done to deserve this?"

Sadly there is no answer, so spend time with your family Ivan, be strong and when you are ready to come back don't think you have anything to prove to anyone, just go out and do what you do best.

My laddie was at the Hibs Kids soccer school a few years ago and Ivan and Sam Morrow came down to meet the kids at the end of the week.

You could tell Sam was nervous meeting the kids and parents as he was just a young laddie himself. Ivan was only at the club a couple of months himself but he put Sam at ease and was laughing and joking with the kids with a real affinity.
