Fair do's to the big man: he was gash, but I always liked him.

I remember Bill Leckie's summing up of him in the player ratings on a report on a Hibs game in the Scottish Sun.

At the same time and much to the annoyance of the Hibs support, Derek Riordan was withdrawn and replaced by Amadou Konte. It’s a pretty fair bet that most of the Hibs fans there thought Mowbray had lost the plot but time would prove his substitutions to be a master stroke.

Half of Konte's problem was he looked so comical. He was actually quite effective a few times - Hearts, Motherwell and (IIRC) Celtic to name three games!

Edit - I would also like to point out that he wasn't the worst player in the team at that time. Simon Brown was an awful goalkeeper, saved by the fact that while he only had one year exposing himself as utterly inept, Zibi had two.
