I'd have thought Egypt would have had first call, besides I think he is maybe a bit too old for the national team.

My mother was head housekeeper at the George V hotel in Paris in the 70's. Al-Fayed owned it at the time, maybe still does, but my ma said that as soon as he found out she was Scottish his manner suddenly changed towards her, in one instance it manifested itself in a 500 Franc tip as well as an offer to become head housekeeper at his Scottish estate. She decided to turn it down for one reason or another. He has apparently always loved Scotland and the Scottish, which I can fully understand of course. Having an 80 odd year old Egyptian president for Scotland might be a bit odd for a fledgling Republic like Scotland though.

Are the SNP not in favour of a constitutional Monarchy?

Yes, the SNP favour a constitutional monarchy, like NZ, Australia and other commonwealth countries.
Al Fayed - Scottish President: I'm sure the pro-union press will enjoy using that pejoratively and out of any particular context.

Red Roseanne Cunningham certainly doesn't favour a monarchy.
