Any keepers on here ?

I promised the boy that i would get him a decent pair of Goalkeeping gloves if he still wants to be a keeper near Christmas time :greengrin
I'm not really sure what i should be looking for though !

I know you get the gloves with the spines but what else should a decent pair of keepers gloves have ?

Looking for something around £30 but i might be prepared to go higher if he fancies them as a main present.

Any ideas ?

They look decent enough to me mate, I wouldn't go spending much more than that for a junior pair.

Only thing to look out for is if he plays on artificial surfaces. You can get tougher ones for them that last a bit longer.

That Sports Soccer (fort kinnaird) place, seemed to have a decent selection, got a pair there for myself. Pretty cheap compared to other sports shops.

Been a keeper for years, i tend not to use the fingersaves (spines ) but thats just down to comfort.

Good gloves should have a good quality latex on them. Iv been using Sells goalkeeper gloves for a while and have no complaints. Most spl and premiership goalkeepers use them to (although they are endorsed by ben foster :bitchy:)

YOu dont often see them in the shops so you might have to buy them online. prodirectsoccer.com (i think) is where i usually get them

good gloves dont make a good goalkeeper mind

EDIT: just realised sells were the 1's you were looking at

I was a keeper for a fair few years, and sells were the best I wore. Club paid for them from Colin Campbell sports, so I got the most expensive ones obviously! But they are a quality pair of gloves.

I would personally avoid the fingersaves (spined gloves). They dont feel natural personally, they feel a bit robotic, and restrict movement of the hands a bit.

Totaly agree, they were a slight confidence boost but just don't feel right.

I had 2 pair of the same gloves just different colours, but i was training every day and hated puting on damp or dirty gloves.

The gloves you picked look like a decent paid at a great price. Think i paid £30 for my last pair and they don't look as good as them....

I've always found this site to be the dogs' danglies.
Goalkeepers Direct (http://www.goalkeepersdirect.co.uk/default.asp?c=21436)
You can compare prices etc from loads of manufacturers. They also have "two pair" glove deals.

Colin Campbells has best selection of Sells which i tend to use, however i have also dealt with Kenny Arthur in the past (ex Partick GK) and he has a website set up going under the name of KA goalkeeping. His gloves are actually pretty much sells gloves but cheaper. He bought the old design and puts his own label on them as far as i am aware. Well worth a shot.

I bought some kit from this company for my nephew last year. May be worth a look.

Personally not a huge fans of Sells. The best gloves out there, IMO, are still Reusch.

I'm currently using this pair and they are fantastic
http://www.prodirectsoccer.com/prodinfo.asp?PID=PDS-006-011-675&DEPT=6&BRAND=11&SS=1

Also you should be aware if spending decent money that a decent pair of gloves are only at peak performance for about 6-7 games. Most pro keepers change theres every game or 2. Obviously for a youngster 6-7 games is excessive changing but there is no way gloves are still in suitable condition after 2 years as someone else said.

Also try and not buy of the internet but go to Colin Campbells and get him properly measured and to try a few pairs on. A decent fitting pair of gloves are far more important than a flashy looking or expensive pair.
