Is anyone else totally underwhelmed by this initiative?

I would reckon that the impact of this initiative can't hover much above the zero mark - or are there people out there still blissfully unaware of alcohol units and about how much would be considered to damage your health?
As someone who struggles to keep my drinking down to sensible levels I just wish there was better support available for people like me. Discussing it with others in the same boat would seem to be a good idea but the only show in town seems to be AA and I found that worse than useless because of it's quasi-religious approach and espousing of abstinence as the only answer (I only went along to see - I'm not really an alcoholic you understand ).
However, since the Holy Ground forum says you should grab a beer first I do realise that this post might be a bit of a downer so please accept my apologies.:greengrin

I am completely unaware of this alcohol that you speak of? Any idea where I can find some? :greengrin
Seriously though, I've no idea what this lot are like but maybe worth a try if someone was looking to talk to someone

I am aware of alcohol everyweek.Last week i got absolutely hammered friday and saturday. This week i,m going to abstain from any alcohol, does,nt mean i,m not aware of it,just means like most things in my life it,s my choice to do it if i want.Thats the beauty of being an adult, choosing if and when to do things.:greengrin

Couldn't agree more with this comment. The only way the Government is going to curb alcohol use is to restrict your choice to consume alcohol.

I agree with what you say in that I never think the 'preaching' method works very well. It's nice to be addressed like an adult and I think some of the advice available fails in that respect. This site has some useful and most importantly practical advice and tips and hs a useful alcohol units reckoner.

I think the brewers, pubs and supermarkets already do a great job letting us know this stuff is out there.
