So far this season, McBride has been very good. Why would you get rid of him?

I'm pretty sure Miller and Stokes have signed two year deals so that takes them to 2011. Could be wrong though.

It is your opinion and I respect that, but....Getting rid of those 3:confused:

McBride-So far this season has been one of our most important players
Cregg-Had one bad game apart from that offers that extra bite in midfield (displayed earlier on this season)
Nish-Well Hot and Cold, we complain about him when he plays but half the time when he doesn't, people want him?!

Miller signed a two year deal but Stokes signed a three year.

I agree with those who say that McBride has done well so far. He is an important type of player for us and is part of the midfield "balance".

I haven't seen much of Cregg but, from what I've heard, he has qualities that our squad will need as the season progresses - particular during away games on a wet, freezing January evening where 3 points need to be won just as much as on a bright September afternoon.

Nish, again, I think is an important player to have in the squad. Perhaps not a starter every week but he does score goals and offers us something at the moment that no-one else in the squad does.

IMHO - for the first time in a long time it's hard to think of anyone in the squad that should be let go.

It's amazing what cancelling a few contracts can do for overall squad quality!

The next 12 months I hope will be a good time to get some players signed up on longer contracts. We have quite a few whose contracts end in 2010/2011. It would be bad news to risk losing in one summer a chunk of a squad that, hopefully, will have been developing successfully between now and then.

Personally think we should be re-signing;

Rankin, Murray, Wotherspoon (if he really is up this summer), possibly benji (if he would agree to one)

Looking further forward we need to get Riordan tied up now and if possible Zemmama

As much as he talks pish, I can vouch that he certainly isn't a yam, before the witchhunt starts.

Fairy nuff, but anyone wanting rid of McBride hasn't watched (as opposed to seen) him much, or knows little about the game.

Maka - 2010 - I'd get him tied down on a longer deal. I do think he's a good goalkeeper, although not the finished article yet. Pretty sure he would sign an extension.
Hogg - 2011 - New contract please, Rod
Bamba - 2011 - Would be good, but can't see him staying past next summer.
Murray - 2010 - As 'Hogg', only more urgent
Wotherspoon - 2011? - This lad is going to be a real star for Hibs. Extension needed me thinks.
Hanlon - ? - No idea of contract terms but as 'Wotherspoon', good player who will get much, much better with age and experience.
McCann - ? - Too early to tell if he'll return to his pre-injury form. Not sure when his contract expires.
McBride - 2010? - I'm sure he's only signed until next year. Was there not something said about either McBride or Cregg being given a short term contract that would be renegotiated later on in the season dependent on progress? :dunno: Even so, would get him signed up for longer. He's impressed so far. Works very well with Miller.
Cregg - 2011? - Done not too bad so far. Not sure how much he'll feature this season though.
Zemamma 2011 - Can't see it TBH if he keeps performing the way he has, but surely we've got to at least try to hold onto him for a wee bit longer. Our best player IMO.
Riordan - 2011 - As 'Murray' and 'Hogg' - would love to see him extend his current deal.
Miller - 2011 - Only signed a 2 year contract. Another year perhaps?
Stokes - 2012 - Long enough contract for now
Benji - 2010 - Not too sure he would stay for any longer?
Nish - 2011 - A better player than some make out, although he is very inconsistent. See how he get's on this year and review contract at end of season.
Rankin - 2011 - As 'Nish', although a tad more consistent. Handy squad player.
Stevenson - 2012? - Did he not sign a long term (5 year?) deal under JC? I do like him but I don't think he's progressed as far as was anticipated. Reckon he'll be moved on before long.
Thicot - 2010? - Another possible casualty (?), either in January or the Summer
Stack - 2012 - As 'Stokes'.
Galbraith - 2011 - Still young. Looks a very good player though.
McCormack - 2012 - As 'Stokes' and 'Stack'. Time will tell whether he continues at RB or moves back to CH. Useful player to have in the squad.

Cregg took 1 year deal, he claimed Yogi would have him in by Crimbo to offer him an extension.

McBride 2 year deal.

Miller 2 year deal.

Stokes 3 year.

All the promoted 19s were 2 years, although I would expect a clause stating that after say 10 first team games it would be renegotiated. More money for longer term swap.

AFAIK Paul Hanlon has the longest deal at the club - 2013.

The underlined ones, I'd like to see given new deals.

The ones in bold, I don't think will want to sign them. (I'm not basing this on anything, just a gut instinct)

steve 20 - i just think there better players out their for us that can spread the ball better than mcbride for us

teo 20 - to me if cregg could not get into a falkirk team in the relegation zone he does belong in this squad (looking to break old firm or get in europe) when is wages could go towards a) keeping players or signing new ones

on nish never rated him less so with riordan, benji, stokes and bryne in the ranks

and i hate mikey stewart !!!!:grr:

Have you watched the team this year? McBride has been one of the more inportant players and there is not anybody in the squad that can play in his postion. As for spreading the ball, I haven't seen any problem with his passing at all.

On what I have seen of Cregg this year he looks a good player and hasn't played badly when in the team. I don't think his form last year matters when he is playing well in a Hibs shirt.

If this is the correct list then its pretty worriying that from the end of next season we have first team players as well as what you call our back up youngsters all with contracts expiring.

I would assume that a lot of these will be tied up over the next few months but its still a concern!
