I saw the pictures and I was apalled by what seemed to be the actions of a Nazi storm trooper. I'm glad the case is going to be scrutinised, and would like to hear an explanation for what appears to have been brutish behaviour.

A disproportionate response for a serving police officer surely?

I can think of better ways to save money, like Trident and Afghanistan.

The Met are always more likely to charge a black man than a white man. It seems that they apply this to their own as well to non officers. At least there is parity in that respect.

All this guy did was slap a hippy, the white police who directly or indirectly had a part to play in a mans death seems to be fine. Whatever happened to that cop that was caught on film pushing that newspaper seller over, anyone know?

The policeman in question here acted like a complete thug, and this is a separate incident from the death of the newspaper seller-which as Filled Rolls correctly points out we need answers to as well.

Certainly is a disproportionate response, especially considering he has the ready made defence of the crowds attitude and over aggressiveness of the protesters he was attempting to control. Plus the possibility it was a rearwards defensive strike made blindly (he was facing another protester when she pulled at his arm) at his arm level, and because she's a bit smurfish by comparrison to the officer she gets a mouthfull of glove :duck:

Not condoning his initial actions btw, at the time I thought it was not in line with the threat being faced, however that's easy for me to say sitting on the comp as I wasn't the one on the base line.
