Dirk was a great character,

His record was 59 appearances and 9 goals for Hibs.

As we're playing Motherwell tomorrow thought I'd remind all that Dirk scored twice on his debut for Hibs in a 2-2 draw against Motherwell and then went on to play for them alongside James McFadden.

Anyway, the plasters covering the earings, the goal in the 3-0 win against :lolyam: and for me after talking to him on a couple of occasions he was an absolute gent. Not sure what he's up to these days but I'll always have fond memories of his time at ER.:applause: Dirk...

He rented out a house in Loanhead and was seen a few times in the 'county' (pub in Loanhead) ..Was at the SC final against Celtic in 01.

Top bloke. He shoulda had a hat-trick on his debut but Goram kept him at bay more than once. He also did a very decent stint at CH too as his time at Hibs neared an end.

Top player and one who i have fond memories off. Did he really only score 9 times? I thought it was more than that.

My abiding memory of Dirk was his unorthodox jumping style. He seemed to jump very early but had an uncanny nack of hanging in the air.

We need more players who wear tape on their ears.

Not the best of players truth be told but a trier and seemed a good guy.

Can't ever forget the most hideous cringe inducing interview I think I've ever seen conducted by Chic Young (no surpise there then) after Dirk had played only a couple of games. Wandering up the The Royal Mile he kept asking Dirk to say 'You'll have had your tea' as it's what 'people from Edinburgh like to say.' Oh the mythical West coast banter...
