Thoughts?

Why is Rankin not out because he is gash?

Even although he has set up most of our goals this season?

I know he's no "flair player"... but he doesnt get credited enough for the important things he does do.

He balances a 4 man midfield. The other possibility is to bring Galbraith in on the left. But that is a bit too many changes.

anyone at the Hamilton game could surely see Mcbride was the only player willing to put a shift in.

:agree:

Would be harsh to drop McBride...

 Rankin has been one of our best players in 2009. A lot of fans refuse to let go of the fact that his first 12 months at ER was poor. I hated him until Jan/Feb, but all of a sudden he came onto a game. He's hungry, he works very hard, and has a great left foot on him. Give the guy a break

Wotherspoon.....McBride.....Miller.....Rankin

We lacked width, so I'd play Wotherspoon at RB.
We were very negative in mid-field, so I'd play Miller and drop Cregg.
I'm not happy with our CH's, I'd drop Hogg, I'd play Murray.

I think that is very close to the team for tomorrow, but it will be a 4-3-3 formation from Yogi.
Big changes for the team tomorrow.

Rankin was the only one to try a leg at Hamilton.

(2 games against the same team at ER over a few days so, I expect Yogi to mix things up for the first game(save Cregg and McBride for midweek incase game goes into extra time). Would expect us to be like this...

Makalambay

McCormack Hogg Murray Hanlon

Weatherspoon Bamba Miller

Byrne Stokes Riordan

Hate to be the voice of doom and gloom.

But we will lose with that formation... doesnt matter who's playing.

I understand what you are saying but if the wide front men work back when the opposition have the ball then it obviously becomes a 4 5 1. I think that is what Hughes is trying to acheive:dunno:

I dont think rankin has been doing the 'unseen' things well lately. He is failing to track players off the ball now which is giving the opposition more time. Since his lucky goal against Celtic he has been regularly trying to re create similar goals taking pot shots from all over the place only to give some fan at the back of the stand a good look at a match ball.

Rankin always puts in a lot of effort but I think he has not been focussed lately. I think he needs to be dropped for a couple of games to see if he can get focussed again.

Sorry wee hibee but it will be 4-3-3.

I fwe play 4-3-3 again I fear we will get beat. I know this formation is meant to go to a 4-5-1 when defending heavily, but our forwards dont work like that. If you have a forward with rooneys mentality of defending as well as attacking then it works. But our players dont have that mentality. Play with what your strengths are, forwards moving into defend isnt one of ours. 4-4-2 is by far the strongest for us, if we match up in midfield then I think our midfield will be stronger than most SPL clubs and we will push them back. NO MORE 4-3-3!

Wouldn't mind seeing Benji getting a start today?

Given his goals per minutes on the pitch ratio so far this season and his promise to repay the club with goals to make up for his antics, might be a good opportunity to start getting him match fit and bagging a goal or 2?

However, today is the last day of Ramadan, so he might not be up to 90 mins yet. Definite start for part 2 on Wednesday night though IMHO. :agree:
