Don't know if anyone here cares, I don't TBH, but it illustrates the type of spending cuts going to be required.

It's also a little shady that one of the planned transport policies that helped win them the commonwealth games.

Although I've said I don't really care, I do think that every major city should have a rail link from the airport to the city centre.

It's great getting the plane into Amsterdam, down the steps and onto a train. 20 minutes later you're in the centre.

Scotland is falling behind many European countries in terms of infrastructure due to a chronic lack of investment. Creating quality transport links and infrastucture is a cornerstone of economic growth. Without any investment Scotland will continue to lag behind other countries.

The SNP want an independent Scotland but seem unwilling to invest in infrastructure that would help provide future benefits for a independent nation. IMO this decision seems to be contrary to their political agenda.

Totally agree and ties in with what I posted on the Johnny Walker thread...Scotland is and has consistently failed to invest in critical infrastructure to allow the country to be more prosperous.

Thanks to the SNP and their desire to kill anything means of funding that is not provided by Central government and now the clear message that Central government funding must be cut then the situation is going from bad to worse...we can't even find a way of replacing the Forth Bridge, soemthing that is arguably the countires most important transport connection no matter start looking at ways of upgrading the country as a whole. :grr:

Probably sold off at a fraction of the price.

I don't know the extent of project and it will be disappointing if a large amount of money has already been spent for a project like this.

Never really understood, thinking in Edinburgh terms, how a rail-link becomes a major capital project. You can see the airport from both the Fife and Glasgow lines. It passes a stone throw away. Surely you could reroute the track a few hundred yards and stick in a halt without everyone getting all excited?

You feel that in continental countries, this would simply be done without all the on-off handwringing and soul-searching.

FFS they've only been in power a matter of months. We have had years of the old Labour prats like Auld Geordie Foulkes to thank for the lot we are in today. If the past First Ministers had stood up to Tony Blair and his cohorts we would have had a better deal for Scotland and not some puppets in charge at Holyrood.

30 months compared to the puppets since 1999

Fair enough, they've not had quite as long in power as the Labour/Lib Dems government but they've had a bit longer than the "matter of months" that you stated, in order to make some kind of mark on the country.

They made more of a mark in their first 100 days than the previous administrations have since the inception of the parlaiment. IMO of course

Both the Glasgow and Edinburgh rail to plane links cancellation will be due to the trams in Edinburgh, sadly :boo hoo:

Blame anyone else, but not the SNP for them, as they were voted down in a democracy :agree: :bitchy:

Think about who you vote for next time :agree:

I agree, although maybe Scotland would be better placed having one major international airport. I think having two so close together is a waste of resources.

Maybe it brings home what a Mickey Mouse event the Commonwealth Games actually is?

You'll be blaming the war in Afghanistan on the trams next! I think the cuts are more likely needed because of the shambles the bankers created.

Mildly off topic, but if the SNP has 100% confidence in their Great Independence Caper, then why the need for funding cuts??

Surely it's just a case of gaining ownership of the North Sea Oil pipelines - should be as simple as signing a credit card receipt in the supermarket, shouldn't it???

I didn't and haven't noticed the blindest bit of difference between the SNP and Labour other than that smug git Salmond on the TV even more often, to be honest. The SNP have been about as radical as the Women's Institute.

They do a good line in Calendars

My Community charge seems to have frozen since the SNP arrived too.

Hospital A&E in the west of Scotland seems to be operating rather well.

It doesn't cost me anything to go over the water to Fife these days, just the diesel.
