Seems to be a day for celebrity deaths, as former celebrity chef, Keith Floyd has died at the age of 65 after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Is that true? I was just watching the show that Keith Allan did with him, last night. I can't say I'm surprised if he is dead, some coincedence though.

So he actually died on the day that the programme went out? I can't help thinking the old b*gger did it on purpose.

I saw the documentary last night. Thought it was an interesting insight into the man himself. Keith Allan came across as a bit of a knob, but Floydy didn't disappoint. A few f's and c's thrown in like a glass of wine into a risotto.
He has an autobiography coming out next month, so I'll be looking out for that.

The show actually reminded me of a similair programme about George Melly. Both were larger than life characters, and it was interesting to see that was how they actually were, rather than a front for others.
I think Keith Allan found himself in a rather awkward situation, and he did a good job of being fair to all concerned. He had, perhaps foolishly, committed himself to producing an hour of telly, only to find it was a difficult thing to do.
He also had to deal with the way Floyd manipulated his presence there to try and reconcile with his daughter. Keith Floyd was amusing, but like a lot of chronic drinkers, his nasty side came to the fore when he reached the maudlin stage.
Fair play to him though, he was true to himself, and - I think - everyone else. You can see why people got fed up working with him though.

Yes, that bit made my toes curl. She didn't seem impressed, but if you know people like that, that is what they do. He was clearly uncomfortable with seeing her and I can imagine he wanted the camera crew there to avoid the awkwardness of the situation for him.
I didn't see the programme last night, but I did have the pleasure in eating in his Burasari restuarant in ****et a month ago & it was amazing.
RIP
He certainly was instrumental in my interest in food and cooking (& wine). His programmes were so watchable, as much a tavelogue as a cooking show

Sad news
The guy was a legend in two fields - cooking and broadcasting.
Will be missed.
