Remember it well, was in the Dunbar end for that game.

I love looking at adverts from old programmes. £768 for a 21" TV and Video recorder. :greengrin

Twenty years...aagghh!!! I was just a fresh-faced twenty year old newly-wed. I remember the first leg being a dire slog, but determined to go to Hungary as I'd never seen Hibs in Europe. It was the weird little town industrial town that actually did make video recorders. I recall the bottles of cheap gutrot wine and the almost total (and inexplicable) absence of young women.

We were given little chance of progressing as Videoton had beaten Man U in Europe a couple of seasons before, but we gave them a fair old going over and won 3-0.

wow that brings back memories and i was only 7.

I remember my dad having that programme. Gonna have to make a phone call to my dad and find out if he took me to it.

I take it there is no video of it ??

I remember the away leg on the radio, legendary David Francey was commentating.

Speaking to friends who were on the chartered flight said that he got up and entertained them on the mike repeating commentary mid flight. Anyone confirm?

I quote ' Very little is known about two of the clubs regular defenders Csaba Laszlo and Zoltan Nemeth apart from the fact they are both 22'

I remember it well, unfortunately I couldn't make the away leg and got pelters from Toaods, China hibs and the Late Toaosi, postcards, telephone calls from bars at all strange times of the night, but if truth be told I loved it. :greengrin

No red blue devil ultras that night  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXG32kvFd5U

Went to both games. The only time I have seen Hibs in Europe away from home.
Great fun & great result.
Roll on next year maybe!

It wasn't. He was playing in (West) Germany during that period.

At the home leg. Great atmosphere and should have won by more. Didn't go to the away leg but listened to the commentary on Radio Forth(?). Right down the pub to celebrate at the full time whistle.

Should have beaten F.C. Liege in the next round too :boo hoo: Houchies penalty miss :grr:

I remember listening to it at Chez Mandela and then going into Alloa with our Hibs scarves on to celebrate. Ah the good old days before marriage and kids.
