Why so angry about 4-5-1?

It's not necessarily more defensive than 4-4-2, Scotland need to get the ball in order to do something with it, having five in midfield might achieve this.

The goalkeeping situation is, unfortunately, the death knell for this qualifying campaign. IMO, without Gordon we are ******.

And Fletcher dropped for Naismith? FFS Burley, one of the worst yet.

Fletcher took a couple of sore ones against Macedonia. Furthermore, if we find ourselves needing to switch to a more direct game, it allows Burley to bring on two big, mobile players in Fletch and O'Connor.

We'll also need Naismith and Maloneys pace to keep up with thier wingers.

I wasn't covinced with Fletcher up front v Arsenal for Burnley or that he deserved a starting spot after the Macedonia game...involved in the goal yes, but never really showed otherwise.

As mentioned elsewhere, we may need go be strong breaking from midfield and truth be told everyone knows Naismith can be a player when the situation arises from that area......lets just hope big Jonesy is playing left back for the Dutch....:faf:

You knew the team at 4.50 this morning and it was confirmed later on. Why are we giving out the team selection so early ? There cannot be anything to be gained by this surely !! Cant be certain but think the minimum is 45 mins before kick off. Could we not have delayed till then and the selection of Naismith may have come as much as a surprise to the Dutch as it did to the rest of us !!!!
