Confirms it on SSN.

Well and truly disappointed as I was pinning our hopes on him being fit. It could be an embarrassment tonight if Marshall is playing. :grr:

We've got 11 goals in 3 games Marshall to fill his boots:boo hoo:.

What a blow, chances severly dented with that news.

Even worse news is GORDON Marshall is deputizing

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/internationals/8240464.stm

Scotland keeper Craig Gordon has failed a late fitness test on his thigh injury ahead of Wednesday's crucial World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.

Gordon Marshall is likely to deputise ahead of Jamie Langfield.

Burley would be better off pairing Fletcher and Miller up front and going with no goalkeeper tonight. :agree:

Oh dear!! Gordon is always a solid performer and gives the whole defense that confidence. Marshall is a jinx!!

Well only a miracle will do us tonight!!

Could be worse, Marshall might trip over his shoe laces and Langfield might have to go in!!!

Is langfield worse than marshall??

Is langfield worse than marshall??

They could stick the pair of them in goal and they still wouldn't come up to Gordon's standard.

Marshall will be substituted at half-time when it's only 4-0 and Langfield will concede a further 4 goals.

Gutted.

Could Gordon could be wary of jeapordising his chances of escaping from Sunderland's reserves if he was to concede too many goals tonight? IIRC he also missed the game in Amsterdam.

Get Allan the ****ger Greegsy back. Better than Marshall and Langfield put together.

He wasn't selected for the game over there though - I think he was on the bench.

I really don't think he's the type of guy that would take a chance on not being in the limelight tonight, even if he did let a couple in he'd no doubt make a couple of eye catching saves as well that make Stoke or someone bid for him in January.

Agreed, I don't think he's that type of player.

Can we not just give him another fitness test a few minutes before the teams have to be annouced?:boo hoo:

Maybe we're playing mind games with Holland? They think 2 of our best 3 players are out and when they turn up it's only our best player that's missing. That'd knock them on to the back foot.

Erse that he is, McGregor is no worse than Gordon. The plukey ex-yam has always been a bit over-rated IMHO. He tends to play to the cameras with what are actually quite straightforward saves.

He was available for the game in Holland but the weegie press had a clamour to get McGregor in as he was 'just as good if not better' - the same press who since been lavishing the praise on Gordon since 'booegate'.

Massive blow for the team tonight. It was going to take a hell of a performace and luck to get 3 points, now it's going to take that and something else on top.
