What a load of pish!

Child's Play was released 21 years ago FFS!!!

And linking the Port Arthur massacre to it now as well??? WTF? I'm not even convinced that guy Bryant done it, never mind Child's Play somehow influencing a shooting massacre of 35 people.

If in doubt, blame the video nasties. What utter nonsense

It's pathetic journalism, and what is sad is the number of people who will be outraged about this film, only to have forgotten all about it by this time tomorrow. Meanwhile kids continue to suffer violence and no real thought is given to fixing the root causes - by the bulk of the population.

They'd much rather be outraged, spend an hour or so talking about how they could be even more violent as a punishment, then switch on Britain's got talent.

The kids are much more likely to have learned their violence from the significant people in their lives than from a DVD. If you can blame this film for perversion and deviance, then you might as well consider everything else they've watched. Surely the fact that they were given the film to watch by their parents, says a lot more about how they were taught to think?

I agree that youths are most likely to learn to be how they are from parents.

One thing I always thought never had a lot of substance was the role of video games/films until issues with my aunts boy who was about 8/9 at the time. He had started hitting people out of the blue and this continued for a couple of weeks and my aunt was at a loss as to why.

Whilst tidying his room she found that he had been playing a game called Saints Row (GTA type game) that one of his mates had brought round. She took the game off him and gave it back to his friend and within a week or so he was back to normal. In this case there was certainly an influence on him.

However, I still believe that you need to have a bit of a screw loose before you go around attacking people with hammers ala Manhunt.

I watched wrestling as a kid and people were always trying moves on each other at school and all.

However, I also watched Child's Play and every other horror movie going at that time too, however I never felt the urge to go out and stab someone or copy anything from the movie, other than maybe quoting some dialogue from it!

I've been dressing as a ventriloquists dummy for years. No connection though, as i have never seen the films.

If anyone is stupid enough to reenact what they see in a movie, game etc then they're a ticking time bomb anyone and need some serious help.

I don't know, watching 9 and half weeks has proved a great inspiration to me, and i haven't been stopped by the police.

Bingo! Anyone who would do this already has some tendancy towards violence, it has just taken watching a film to trigger it.... but something else would have triggered it sooner or later.

For some reason we seem to have a hard time accepting the fact someone can be just plain bad, especially when it's kids that have done something wrong.

Hahaha, pathetic journalism :faf:

A masacre of 35 people just simply can't be blamed on a pretty crap series of films made years and years ago.

These films don't even really have guns in it.......

After the first two they go a bit like the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and your left thinking after watching one "Please god don't make another, this crap shouldn't be allowed to even be classified as Horror"

Seriously though, children should not be allowed to play Saints Row or GTA. I've heard of a few cases where they've been severly playing up at school and acting like a thug (my Girlfriends wee brother included) when it simply doesn't match thier character. Hence why these games are usually certified 18. I know you can take this too far by not letting an 11 year old for example watch Titanic becuase it's a 12 - but a little thought and consideration into what you let your kids watch/play wouldn't go a miss.

I quite enjoy these games; then again I'm not that impressionable to decide I want to go out and murder people after playing it.

Most behaviour in life (if not all) is learned for experiences and mostly your parents. If your mum and dad only ever shout at each other, swear, drink and take drugs excessivly then the chances are that your going to grow up to be a bit of a nugget yourself.

I'm not in anyway saying that this is a dead cert, I know of a few people who have turned out the exact opposite because of how disgusted they are with thier parents.

But my general opinion is that your not born a bad person - you learn how to be one.
