just finnished the book "there is a bonnie fitba team"
which is a brilliant read ,and it got me thinking what the best hibs book ive ever read is.
for me its "the sunshine on leith" if you have not read it ,it features our former players telling what it was like to play for the famous hi bees.
but "there is a bonnie fitba team" comes a close 2nd.
just would like to no what other hi bees favourite hibs book is.

My "100 Years of Hibs", mainly because it's signed by ET and the team of that era.

'There is a bonnie fitba team' is brilliant. Totally written through the eyes of a real fan. The ups and downs of supporting this amazing club! Feelings we have all been through.

If you haven't read it I advise doing so!!

I haven't read this one yet, look forward to it!

Surely the greatest books written about Hibs are the Alan Lugton series, "The Making of Hibernian" ? Essential reading with a lot of social history aspects, as well as the football.

I would also recommend Eddie Turnbull's Having a Ball. A truely incredible story. especially given that he only turned pro at the age of twenty four.

Just read the Turnbull's Tornadoes chapter. It must've been great to be around back then.

It was, but now quite depressing to read how much more the they could have achieved if the team had not been systematically dismantled!

have just read that myself and it is a very good read, found myself disagreeing on his view of certain players (joe t and lovell spring to mind) but as someone else said it must have been brilliant but frustrating to watch the brilliant early 70's team.he did seem to miss a fair few of our more memorable games though
 .having a family is one thing but it cant interfere with the cabbage watching if you are going to write a book about it.:cool2:
lugtons" making of" is the best imo.

:agree: Turnbull seemed to go into self-destruct mode on the back of one result. For all the good he done he definitely seemed to make an arse off it towards the end.

Must say I've enjoyed all the Hibs books I've read from 100 Years of Hibs onwards. Ted Brack's book is excellent as a personal view of the fortunes of the club in the last 50 years, but the outstanding achievement must be Alan Lugton's series - a real labour of love. Having said that, he's no' signed my copies yet! :grr:

Quoted him in my under-graduate dissertation, outstanding piece of scholarship.

I've enjoyed reading all the Hibs books surprise surprise but particularly enjoyed "There is a bonnie fitba team" as it covers the time from when I started supporting Hibs myself (1959) and is written from a fans perspective.
