Gotta be Andy Murray. He's a genuine world star, a credit to Scotland, and well deserving of a major title.

The football team are dross, an embarrassment to Scotland and undeserving of anything!

Andy Murray will win a major at one point and he can attempt it every year. Another five years till the next World Cup so it is the footie for me.:agree:

If I thought we might actually win a play off i'd say Scotland.

I voted Scotland play offs 'cause it might not happen again for a few decades where if Murray doesn't win he's got a good chance of winning over the next couple of years........

How much time does he have though? I think he's 21 or 22 and I'd imagine if you don't win a major by the time your about 24 then you're probably not going to do it given how many young challengers there are. With the football team, the personnel will change as the years go by so perhaps one day there will be a side good enough to qualify. Unless FIFA votes the home nations out of existence that is.

I've been to Holland and Norway with this Scotland side.

The thought of them actually qualifying and playing against the elite countries in South Africa, whilst the entire world is watching, is too frightening, I'm afraid.

We are hopeless.

Mon the Murray.

Yes, the football team may be crap. However, UEFAs include everyone policy is not the best IMO. You have **** teams in the WC finals because of the continent they play on. I know there are arguements it helps their football develop etc but it doesn't make the World Cup a spectacle when you have Togo Vs Brazil. Scotland, and many others, are better than the dross on show in the WC.

Also, for this particular arguement, Murray gets a shot at 4 major championships per year (?). We get one chance every 4 years. Pull your head out yer arse if you voted for Murray.

See what you did.

A perfectly reasoned argument, spoiled by an attack on people with different opinions.

What a shame.

If Scotland get to the playoffs, they'll be a unfounded surge in expectations, hope and consumption of Tennents in the weeks leading up to the game (in of itself a horrible scenario, as that stuff is foul)

The red tops will somehow build up the game to be the "Kilted Warriors and their loyal band of hardy followers" against The Dark Forces of Tyranny.

Then we'll get pumped and just be even more dissappointed than if we hadn't got to the playoffs.

If the question had been "Andy Murray vs Scotland getting to Euro 2008" my answer would have been different.

As it is, Mon the Murray.

Has to be Murray for me.

I'm far more interested in tennis (and Murray in particular) than I am in international football.

We would only be in the WC for 3 matches anyway before being humiliated and sent packing.

I would still like to see us qualify but I would really love to see Murray win his first ever Major.

I only do that when the reasons are completely illogical to me ( I work as an analyst, generally most can be quite arsey but tend to follow logical conclusions after weighing things up. Probably why I don't believe in god :greengrin). Just my make up.

Voted Murray.

AM's in action at the moment, winning 3-2 in the first set.

Interesting to see so many on a football messageboard opt for the tennis option. Probably helps that he's a Hibby?

Federer was 21 when he won his first major, and had been around for 4 years. He is now 27 and still dominating the sport.
