Wenger tune has certainly changed over a couple of years!

2006 - "Wenger wants refs to ban divers "
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/4842424.stm

2009 - "Wenger angry over Eduardo charge"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/8223917.stm

I understand he's annoyed because it's only eduardo this is happening to, but surely it has to start somewhere?

Actualy quite surprised I've not seen any of the media bring up this past artical.

I cant believe he does not remember this.:faf: I also cant believe he said it, especially after the Robert Pires dive against portsmouth i think. Great manager, but more faces than shaun lawson.

The biggest moan in the EPL. Only sees what he wants to see.

Eduardo cheated and deserves to get a ban. As you say, it's got to start somewhere.

That's nothing. Most of the Celtic support have changed their tune over the last couple of weeks :greengrin

Surely it should have started with Rooney a few years back then?

It should have started the very first time it happened!

As it didn't at the time it would be a job and a half if all dives over the past couple of years had to be reviewed and acted upon so at least we now have a starting point.

Maybe this will act as a deterrent and we will see more players staying on their feet instead of rolling over like a big nancy.

Apologies to anybody called Nancy.

he's just doing his job tbh. protecting his players by "not seeing things", arguing when it suits him for other players to be banned so that refs keep him happy.

direct and indirect pressure on refs and the football authorities is part and parcel of a top managers job these days - Ferguson, Rafa, Mourinho they have all done it and will continue to do it because it pays off.

pressurise a ref before a big game by bringing attention to the oppositions bad diving/ fouling etc, bang on about any injustice you've had, moan like **** when decision goes against you so the ref thinks twice next time etc. all part of the game now.

not saying i like, its just the way it is these days

to call it hypocrisy is correct, but kind of missing the point as Wenger and the rest don't genuinely believe what they are saying most of the time as Wenger himself admitted a fortnight ago in an interview with the Times re: him not seeing things.
