How do you feel about that?

Bit sad really. This is the first time I've actually went to shows and actually did some cultural stuff instead of abusing the late night drinking licenses at every available opportunity.

There are some things that we should keep after the festival has packed up and gone, such as the cafe/bar in the George street assembly rooms. That's a lovely wee place, I really don't see the point in closing it down every year after a few weeks....but saying that I'm not sure how it would complete with the other bar's/cafe's in George street normally.

Anyway, the festival rocks :top marks

Never once been to any shows at the festival. Never even been to the castle.

Every year I intend to but am always too skint. Think it's usually due to being skint after holidays etc.

I love the festival time, and the people who take part in the shows are great for the atmosphere in the town. I don't like the wannabes who trot up here, live here for three weeks and don't seem to know they've left Oxford or whatever though.

Manchester and Liverpool and all those other places trying to get on the bandwagon can bolt though. We do it well and Edinburgh is a unique place to come.

As usual, starting to feel the come-down and the long slope into winter..... can't wait for next year.

Nights are getting darker already and it's getting colder :boo hoo:

I really enjoyed the Festival this year. Managed to get to a lot of shows and enjoyed introducing my Aberdonian bird to a bit of culture. Fireworks next week will be a bitter sweet night as usual. It marks the end of the summer for me. :boo hoo:

Anything that results in my journey home being less than 1hr 15 minutes can only be a good thing.

I hope all those that usually econiomically or culturally benefit from the Festival have done so again this time around, but for those of us who live and work in Edinburgh on a day-to-day basis, it'll be good to see the back of it :agree:

och ok. It'll be good to see the back of it from an entirely personal point of view :greengrin

But seriously, whilst I don't doubt its great for tourism and culture bunnies, does anybody else not get a mite ticked off when going about your daily life becomes a much more tiresome and stressful business??

It's definitely more difficult to get about, but I enjoyed the Festivals as an outsider, and I feel it would be a bit churlish of me to resent other folk enjoying themselves.

I'm also (perhaps childishly) charmed and proud that all these folks are so excited to be visiting the place that I get to live all the time.

if you throw yourself into it, and actually enjoy it rather than sitting bitching about the "posh types" I don't know how you can't enjoy it.

It's great fun.

The same will apply to the locals in almost every holiday you've ever been on.

Personally, I hate public transport anyway so didn't have to go near the RM this year. Luckily for me I can now cycle to work as it's only 4/5 miles and I don't have to go past the RM. :greengrin

I don't live in Edinburgh and therefore don't have the day to day 'annoyances' that people there might experience. I always attempt to get up for a few days during the Festival though and love Edinburgh at that time. I'm always a little sad when it's all over for another year.

It's something unique that Edinburgh has and can be very proud of it.
