Should the situation arise on Sunday do you think a Scottish referee would have the nerve to give a penalty against Celtic given the controversy on Wed night?

No chance IMO.

Having Smith breathing down their necks with any sense of injustice taking place, think the ref will play it safe, although it is that great hibby Dougie MacDonald in charge on Sunday!!

If there is a blatant penalty during the game to Hibs and the referee didn't give it then the fall out would be even greater for Sellick. If they get a huge decision in their favour the following weekend then it's difficult to stay on the high horse they've created for themselves.

At the moment they are enjoying the 'being cheated' excuse of Wednesday night as it masks the fact that they were completely outplayed over two legs by the team that hasn't made any big signings over the summer and finished 4th in the Premiership and 18 points behind the Champions, they were beaten by the English equivalent of Aberdeen....

We all know that both Celtic and Rangers get the benefit of kind refereeing throughout the season particularly at home so are shocked when things aren't the same in Europe.

A Hibs player would have to be decapitated with a chainsaw in the box before we get a penalty against the OF. Even then he'd brick out by consulting the linesman.

reckon the referee will equally be desperate to book a hibs player for simulation too..

:top marks

Equally, what chances of simulation from Scott McDonald earning them a penalty on Sunday as some form of sporting karma? :hmmm:

I have every confidence in the fine upstanding referees of Scotland who, despite the influence of the "Big Two" in Glasgow, have consistently refused to show favouritism in any shape or form.

All the same my advice to our defence in the box would be "You can look but don't touch!"

Why do you think they started the bleat in the first place?

OK - they've persuaded UEFA to charge Eduardo - how the charge is ever going to be proved beyond doubt on TV evidence I don't know, and I wouldn't trust Boruc to tell the truth in those circumstances at all.

Video image analysis is an inexact science at best - real life isn't like CSI where Archie twiddles a knob and Bingo! we see the licence plate of the suspect's car crystal clear and in 3D technicolor.

This was always, at least in part, about warning Dougie MacDonald to behave himself tomorrow. No pens against the Greatest Team In The World, and if there happens to eb a claim, book the Hibs player for diving.

I once asked a very good Grade One referee from Edinburgh who worked in the 1960's and 70's who the biggest cheat he ever encountered in his career.

His answer - Celtic football club, because when they cheated, everyone in the club got involved, the chairman, Desmond White, the manager, Jock Stein, the players, the Celtic-sympathetic press - everyone. The pressure they could exert on a referee together was enormous, he said, and very difficult to resist.

This is just them at it again.

When was the last time we were awarded a penalty against one of the OF?

Good question.

Darren Jackson's against Rangers in nineteen-ninety something?

McManus missed one at Ibrox 2003/4ish.
