The first flight back from Dinamo arrives back in town, bringing back the passport holding section of the 400,000 loyal supporters of the Maroon Merde. Apparently some are "no happy" at the result of the game in Croatia, whilst others were confidently predicting that "we wur just gie'in them a headstart, likesy fur next week".

Hertz were unlucky to lose 4-0 to a Zagrebian team, clearly cheating by using Brazilians and Argentinian players, as opposed to a bunch of Lithuanians, a Spanish waiter from the Canaries and a fat pie muncher, who couldnae hit a barn door with a banjo (or should that be Juanjo). In a closely fought game, in which Croatia only managed to net 4 times in 28 attempts (a mere 14.28% success rate), Hertz were comforted in the fact that if they had only scored even once (unlikely I know but bear with me) that would have been a 50% success rate based on shots at goal. As they were playing away, that would have been doubled to 100% and according to the Yamasaurus should have won the tie for the denizens of the Big Pink Bus Shelter.

Following the game Mr Romanov (Submariner, Baltic) refused to accept this as a dent to the Los Yambolinos European domination promised by his goodself (along with the World Cup Stars, Mega Player Budget, New £50 odd Million Stand and Hotel Complex, blah, blah, blah). "It was clearly a conspiracy by UEFA against HOMoFC, aided and abetted by the SFA and Scottish Referees, to thwart Hertz ambitions. The Dinamoans are also to blame for the pitch which was clearly recently laid to prevent the flowing football for which his team is famous. The fact that the Zagrebites only converted 14.28% of their chances confirms the unsuitability of the pitch. Mr Romanov remains upbeat about the future and looks forward to getting a fax about next weeks game when Croatia visit the Tynecastle "Poundstretcher Arena" (loaned out by Cala Homes) for a stern test in front of the Gorgie Hordes (tickets still available, prices reduced, free scarf included). When asked to comment on the likelyhood of the Yams reversing the deficit and progressing, Mr R said "If I can navigate a submarine beneath the frozen Baltic, and get away with Debt and Asset Stripping like this, then anything is possible. Seeples!"

So as the hobo, peg selling docksiders, have to make do with signing another international striker with EPL experience, Hertz will no doubt be unfazed by the visit of their Sticky Bun cousins on Sunday, no doubt treating it as a warm up for next weeks European goal bonanza. They will be quaking in their boots doon Dinamo way today!
