No, Andys quite correct. If we really wanted him that badly we could have had him. We can outspend Motherwell, of course we can, but there may be some occasions where we chose not to.

No, I'm sorry but that's quite wrong. In both cases the manager wanted the player but was outbid by Motherwell. I would suggest that on both occasions the manager really wanted the player or else why was the bid sanctioned :dunno:

You may speculate about us being able to outspend motherwell all you want but the fact is that in two direct bidding contests we came second.
