View Full Version : South African "women" runner

Apparently the IAAF has subjected some South African 800m runner to a gender examination as they - and I quote - DON'T BELIEVE SHE IS A WOMAN???:confused:

The South African athletics association apparently has a "clear conscience" on this as they entered her as a woman and - in effect - don't believe she has a schlong!!!! :faf:

This isn't a East German 1980's shotputter called "Helga"?? Surely this is a comedy wind-up?? How could she get certified as a pro athlete (one of the favs apparently) - under a false gender. Surely basic physical testing or drugs tests ("if you just go into the female toilets madam and fill this test tube" - "Nah, it's ok, I prefer to piss standing up...........") would have uncovered any genitalia based jiggery pokery long before she got anywhere near a World final????

Dunno, when it showed her/him running earlier I would have said it was a bloke as well. Surely though the IAAF must have some evidence other than what she looks like

I am forcefully reminded of a certain Czechoslovakian athlete, one Jarmila Kratochvilova, who appeared fully-fledged as a 400 and 800 metre runner in the early 1980's. I seem to remember David Coleman remarking that before she had taken up running she had worked as a coal-miner. I have no idea if this was true, but it certainly wouldn't have surprised me.

'She' would pass for one in West Lothian :agree:

Whatever the outcome the fact that she ran so well - despite the speculation - tells me that this woman has balls.

Yip, it's amazing what steroids can do, probably a woman, but turning into a man due to the amount of testosterone pumping through her.:greengrin

Hmmm, being in Livi, you're maybe a bit sheltered.

Go n see the Lady Boys... visit their dressing room... see how they deal with it.

This should have been sorted out long ago, long before this lassie won a world title, long before she was out on the front pages of the world's press like this. It's not as if suspicions haven't been expressed before now.

That said, the same suspicions were expressed regarding Marie Mutola, who was Kelly Holme's training partner. She was an 800 metres Olympic champion, and played football, but there was no substance whatsoever to the rumours spread by the athletes she defeated.

And if I understand Jill's comment correctly, her hands are not masculine. Our hands are usually a very clear indicator of our gender.

I have to say also that there was no evidence that Kratochvilova was anything other than a woman with exceptional upper-body muscular development. If she had worked in the coal-mines, that would be a more than adequate explanantion.

I apologise for, and withdraw, any suggestion of flippancy in my earlier posts - for Caster Semenya this affair is no laughing matter at all.

First of all, I originally come from Gilmerton (YGT ya bass) well that's what they used to write on the walls!

Moved to Livvy 3yrs ago AND the thought of going to the Lady Boys dressing room hasn't entered my mind and never will..! Everyone to their own!

Anyway, if she is a lad and it was tucked away would it not fall out or jingle aboot when he/she runs???

If it has been cut off through an operation, S**t, what a thought, that makes my eyes water. :no way:

Is that Roger Daltrey in disguise???

You wouldn't say that to HER.

She ran 400 and 800 for Czechoslovakia for about 3-4 years in the early 1980's.

Loadsa medals, then she retired rather suddenly - probably a steroids case rather than a gender issue.

For Semenya this must be a nightmare.

I saw the report on the news last night. You cannot tell just by looking whether she is female or not, and the fact that the test results will take several weeks suggests more than just a visual inspection. However, it is a disgrace that this has so fully entered the public domain at this time and that she has been stigmatised this way. There is little sign of her being presumed innocent until proven guilty .

To me that's a bloke, the deepish voice, manly looks and her knuckles are fairly large which is usually a give away. If not a man then probably steroid use, I've been to many bodybuilding shows and and know the look of girls taking steroids and she looks like it to me.

Tests take weeks and go much deeper than lifting her skirt to have a look. The question is whether or not 'she' is inter sexual which is down to the chromosomes.

Looks a little like John Collins with a scary perm? :duck:

On another note hasn't anyone noticed that Caster Semenya is an anagram for 'yes a secret man'? :hmmm: :tee hee:

The IAAF has confirmed that sex test row athlete Caster Semenya can keep her 800m gold medal after her father, Fatima Whitbread, confirmed that she is a girl.
