As usual, the well behaved majority who drink responsibly, are being made to suffer because of the action of the minority.

Not for me either. The UK is one of the only countries that I have experienced where saturation drinking and irresponsible drinking is the norm. I want to see my tax spent on my boy's school and things for him to do, not on the police, NHS and other services which have to deal with alcohol related crime and illness/injuries day in day out. One wee trip to AE on a Friday night and you might want to reconsider the petition being signed in my opinion. (sorry that sounded "high horsey" but just the way I feel these days about kids/some adults and they way they drink and act). You look at the nick of some folk getting served in pubs and bars and its also the licensees that should be getting hammered (pardon the pun).

I completely understand what you are saying, but I am a responsible drinker and I don't see why I should be punished because some people can't control their behaviour. I think the government should get rid of the really cheap stuff like the cider that you buy for 50p for 5 litres or whatever, because no-one except the alkies and underage drinkers touch that stuff anyway but leave the rest of us alone. :grr:

I totally agree that there are loads of responsible drinkers out there and yeah, its harsh when they are being penalised. When I was drinking with the boys though (sounds like the start of a Hovis advert), we didn't have police standing outside at 3am like they do now at Omni, Tollcross, Grassmarket, etc awaiting the carnage......I rather like the idea of my local police station being seen in my area and not up the town. Likewise, I was at the RIE two weeks ago on a bloody Tuesday and it was like spilling out time at Lloyds, the majority plastered or drunk. For me it's the pub owners and licensees that should be looked at more closely rather than like you say the responsible drinker. Reduce the number of pubs and regulate their hours better and that would maybe have more of an effect. Who knows eh

Signed. Yet more nanny-state health fascism. The council should get on with its real job and stop telling us what's good for us. There is legislation aplenty to deal with antisocial behaviour without penalising the responsible majority.
