There was at least 10k there today, pretty sure I heard the announcer say 13,000 odd at one point.

That's not a great crowd though. First home game and first meaningfull game for Yogi? I would say that was pretty poor

On the contrary.

Given the opposition, the general economic malaise and the fact that we have not yet made any high-profile signings, I think close on 13.5k is a decent home crowd for this fixture.

And the fact that they witnessed some entertaining football AND a victory will encourage them all to return and bring some friends with them.

Agree 100%. As mentioned above considering the lack of high profile signings, the fact that we were playing a (last season) bottom 6 team and the fact that for may people money is tight at the moment that is a very healthy crowd.

Today was my first game without a ST in years, it's odd how you take that for granted despite the initial expense but nearly pop a bollock when it's £34 for yourself and a 3 year old to watch a game of football.

Not that we didn't both enjoy it, but stone the crows something has to be done about the prices up here.

Fail to see your point "we were playing St Mirren"! We love to tell all we're a big club. Given the optimism pre match it was a piss poor crowd.

Average crowds over last few seasons have been in the 13,000 range, mybe a little more.

"Slightly disappointing" maybe, but in the present economic climate and allowing for all the other factors already mentioned, I certainly wouldn't say it was "piss poor".

And it's the fans of the OTHER club in the city who love to tell all and sundry how "big" their club is. Don't confuse US with THEM.... :cool2:

And there you have it, it was a very decent crowd yesterday.

Particularly when you see these figures and consider the teams we had.

:bitchy: You're talking tripe! 13,500 is a decent crowd vs St.Midden if you look at the historical stats.
Fact: Last season when Hibs were playing hoofball under Mixu, this crowd was only exceeded in games vs The OF and the Yams - and only by a few hundred in the last home fixture vs the huns for example.
Fact: Last season's ER opener vs Falkirk attracted 12,455 - almost 1000 less than yesterday.
Fact: last season's sole fixture vs St Midden at ER attracted 10,317 fans - more than 3000 less bodies!

It was a very decent turnout yesterday, and considering they witnessed an entertaining match in which the Hibees garnered all 3 points, and also the promise of signings to "get the fans excited" from Hughes, I think it's a number that can be built on in the coming months.

PS - re the bit in bold - I think your getting confused with our Yammish cousin's accross in the deluded side of the city.
