He says he isn't selling car insurance, he's selling time. Well, that's even less groovy IMO. How can he own time to start with, unless he is a rich rock star with unlimited funds.

It's just the idle jibberish of a simpleton. Don't pay any attention to him Rolls, he's not real.

Perhaps he ought to have sold some to poor Ron Ashton, who dropped down dead from shock immediately after seeing him doing these insurance commercials.

It's post-modern irony, FR.

Iggy doing that, Rotten doing butter, Steve Earle doing cider. Selling out is the new rock n roll.

Ever got the feeling you've been cheated?

I've always thought that Iggy was The Idiot, but it would appear it's us. :boo hoo:

Is Galway Girl a Steve Earl original?

Bright Eyes doing adverts for the Halifax can be added to the list. Tut tut.

Bob Dylan can probably be let-off for the Co-op advert but not for the wine and the lingerie line...

Yup, it's Steve's all right. Some other act had a hit with it in Ireland, I think, but it is his. (He spends a lot of time in Galway, hence the occasional dalliance with whistles and stuff.)

Mind you, he has five ex-wives to support, so maybe he can be excused?

For shame Steve, for shame...

And as he says in the Wire (admittedly in character but let's not split hairs...), "I pawned my bike, my pickup truck, a National Steel guitar, a stamp collection that my grandpa left me; lost a good wife, a bad girlfriend, and the respect of anyone who ever lent me money.", so we should probably cut the poor fella some slack.

As Bill Hicks said, anyone who does a commercial is off the artistic roll forever, (except Willie Nelson)

Willie Nelson has had such a crap time of it in life that you can't begrudge him anything. Has he done any adverts?
